Yea of course this car is slow if you barely get to 6k rpm. That's a pretty important thing to check before trying a 0-60 run..

This makes me sad. I have the AT, full bolt ons, E85, catless, and can't get better than a 6.8s 0-60 (actual mph).

Here's the thing though....I have 4.88's in place of the 4.10's, so I SHOULD be a lot quicker. Are you on stock tires Wayno? I'm breaking traction a bit on my stock tires starting out. Maybe Lower the psi?

I'm actually worried the shop that put in the gears somehow did them wrong, to a point where it's eating up all my power. I can hear the faintest of gear whine on decel from the rear end. However it's not getting too hot, and I haven't noticed an MPG decrease or any funny behaviour.

Fairly heavy 225/50R16. I expect it to be faster when i switch back to the lighter stock 205/55.

Catless won't make you faster.

Catback won't make you faster.

4.88 will put you in 3rd, not 2nd.

Each AT shift takes 0.3s.

For UEL the only time shorter gears will benefit is in first from 0 to 4500, second from 4000 to 4500, and third not at all. That tiny benefit is more than chewed up by the extra shift time.

EL gets more benefit from FD due to being outside the shorter power band for longer.

Your diff is functioning as intended.

Log your afr and commanded during wot runs to redline, some cars rin pig rich on e85 tunes causing loss of power you want to be mid to low 12 afr on e85 NA , seen some cars down in low 11. the stock 02 scaling only reads to 11.2 and some cars peg full rich from about 5000

Not sure how you're figuring that a lighter exhaust that is more free-flowing won't make you faster Even if it's not a lot, it's something. Same with catless.

I agree with the extra shift taking another 0.3 s, however I'm not sure I agree that I shouldn't be getting a bigger benefit from the lower gearing.

I would think having effectively 19% more torque to the ground in all gears would help more. I thought I saw somewhere on here that one person who did the 4.88 swap on his AT reduced his 0-60 by nearly a second.

Somewhere else I read that one guy was getting close to 6.0 flat NA on his AT with the 4.88's.

Once I get stickier/wider tires that will help a little, as I'm spinning starting out if I brake boost it. I've got a set of bfgoodrich 235/40R17 that I'll be putting on a set of 17x8 RPF1's eventually.

I'm running about 12.2-12.3. I'm still using OTS maf scale up top as Wayno's scale made me run really lean. It was better down low however than the OTS scale. Timing is OTS for the most part, however I added another degree at the very top.

It feels strong. Just not sure how others are getting such good 0-60 times.

Turns out the speed logged by the OFT has been manipulated to log "actual" mph equal to GPS, not equal to the speedo. Incredibly stupid and confusing.

AT, 4.1, UEL, stock intake and cat-back 2nd gear.

http://datazap.me/u/wayne/v86at2-6-0...rk=530-591-593

E85 v86
0-60mph (actual), 0-97km/h (actual), 0-100km/h (speedo) = 6.3s
0-62mph (actual), 0-100km/h (actual), 0-103km/h (speedo) = 6.6s

E85 v84
0-60mph (actual), 0-97km/h (actual), 0-100km/h (speedo) = 6.5s
0-62mph (actual), 0-100km/h (actual), 0-103km/h (speedo) = 6.8s

100RON/93AKI
0-60mph (actual), 0-97km/h (actual), 0-100km/h (speedo) = 6.7s
0-62mph (actual), 0-100km/h (actual), 0-103km/h (speedo) = 7.0s

98RON/91AKI
0-60mph (actual), 0-97km/h (actual), 0-100km/h (speedo) = 6.8s
0-62mph (actual), 0-100km/h (actual), 0-103km/h (speedo) = 7.1s

For comparison from Wikipedia...
ND MX5 2.0L (95RON?) 0-62mph = 7.3s
ND MX5 1.5L (95RON?) 0-62mph = 8.3s

Okay fine, it will make you negligibly faster while lightening your wallet and raping the environment. Sounds like real value on a street car.

If you want to load up the tranny, you'll need as much rubber as possible. I tried it once, it was downhill and still spun the 225 tyres for ages. Higher FD will make it spin for longer.
If you just mash the pedal and release the brake, you will probably go as fast with stock tyres as you would with loading up the TC and running extra rubber.

Impressive. I'm not sure why my car is so slow. It was slower stock than everyone else's times as well. I think the best I could do was a 8.0 0-60.

My tune seems pretty solid. I'll try and get a log or two of my 0-60 runs and post them up.

At this point I have no idea what it could be. Maybe a poorly broken in motor that is down on power?

Your issue is the shift from 2nd to 3rd to achieve the 0-60 runs. Stock redline for 2nd is around 57mph or so.

Unless you increase your redline by 200-300rpms you won't hit 60mph in 2nd. Now if you ever swap to a shorter FD, good luck getting good 0-60 times.

For me with a 4.56 FD and a MT, it's more like 0-54mph which is pretty quick

Turns out my car is just fine! In fact tonight I cracked a sub 6 second 0-60. (5.9). I don't know what was wrong with my torque appapp, or me, etc, but my stopwatch doesn't lie. Just fo be sure I wasn't a little biased in my button pushing I took a video on my phone then opened up an editor to check the time stamps. I did about 10 runs. Once I figured out the launch, I hit pretty consistent 6.0 - 6.3 's times with a best of 5.9. I let my tire pressures down to about 25 psi and that helped but man I need stickier/wider tires!

My results make sense based on how I faired against my friends z4 the other night.
