A week later I started having doubts even called the dealer if i could swap it with manual. 3 weeks after purchase I have trd exhaust, opti coat, suntek full hood, bumper fenders all installed. Theres no turning back now. Again i'm coming from a married man stand point ok. (the saying happy wife, happy life). I drive the car in manual mode and use the shifters it feels great regardless of AT or Manual we all know the twins lacks of power. Finally after weeks of reading probably an extra months more of reading I'll have either fullblown or vortech installed that should resolve my problem. Its just that doesn't mean its an automatic it can't be fast. I say with a turbo/supercharger + bolt on upgrades with e85 it should do the trick. Again this thread has been fun somehow.
Good to hear you got the Opti Coat Pro and Suntek Clear Bra done. Like you I drive in manual mode and use the paddle shifters. Looking forward to seeing some pics of your car with the Opti Coat.

Sure will. I'm just being really occupied deciding which one to get for the turbo. Didn't know that theres so many haters here.

Has nothing to do with psi. Has more to do with a tune.

I was told that with 7psi I shouldn't have a problem with it coming from fullblown and vortech.
Thats another problem to worry about. But if i have to go out of state to get a very shop that will install and tune everything I would to make sure everything goes well.

here is the closing argument to this auto vs manual.

In the case of the BRZ/FRS, both transmission are full 6 speeds, and AT has a rapid and accurate and very predictably timed paddle/stick up-down operation.

Not just in canyon or open winding roads, but on the race track, both transmission do have very good capacity to do what the driver needs to do.

The gear ratios are slightly different at the base 1-4th, and drastically at 5 and 6th, but for almost any racing under 100mph, 5th and 6th are pretty much not used, and becomes a cruising gear for the highways. The Manual retains the close ratios all the way to 6th for the reason if anyone built an actual dedicated race/track car, they are free to use different final drive gear and tire diameter and still retain the extra room in taller gears, but left as-is, it's very close.

What it boils down to is that they are only different in controls on how it shifts, not why or where. And that difference is the biggest factor for the driver to be proficient in either systems. And that mechanically, there are variables like course layout and asphalt, inclines of the road, and tire capacity, which all just has to meet somewhere to define the actual capability and differences can be good or bad in any given road.

If only for the speed of the two cars with different transmissions, there isn't one faster than another. Biggest variable is the driver proficiency, and where the lap is being run.

Driving experience can be a matter of personal choice and most purists do prefer the driving experience of a manual, but that being said, the Semi-Auto AT in the FRS/BRZ does assist the drivers who do not have the accuracy and refined focus of a veteran motorsports driver. What's faster is exactly, what is faster for the DRIVER in question. I post almost the same lap-times given no other variables, with Manual being slightly more edgy on top times in most places, but also more inconsistent due to it being a machine more prone to errors by the driver. I chose the AT for my first FRS, after 22 years of racing on the track, I felt this was a better overall road car for daily use, with not much lost to fun on the tracks, with 5th and 6th being taller to provide more economy and quieter highway cruising. But it does not mean my #2 and #3 cars will be a Auto, and I intend to have many more of them over the years to come. Definitely in the sweet manual transmission too.

For all intensive purposes, we can no longer classify the full 6 speed semi auto here as anything slower than a manual in the FRS. So the choice is more open for even the hard core enthusiasts. And the preference is down to what fits your usage and feel.

The ONLY "con" here, is if you don't know how to drive a manual well enough to post a lap-times you can set with an AUTO, then you NEED to buy a manual so that you can be proficient a driver, as you want to tout to be in the future, especially in an FRS/BRZ. If you are fast with either, the choice is yours to make.

Be easier if it just automatically popped up when you logged in but it is more fun when you find it manually.
