Funny, I never test drove an automatic because I've always had this mentality that sports cars should be manual transmission. I've had my BRZ since July 2013 and I often feel that I should have gotten an automatic.
I hear this car in automatic drives very nicely. It's supposed to have a good response and I think is only slightly slower than the manual transmission. (I think it was 1/10 of a second in a quarter mile difference, or something very minor like that)
I'd use money in making your automatic a little faster rather than just throwing away money to switch cars.
Good luck to you!

Let me apologize for starting this fire storm! When I first got the car there was a Manual and Auto available at the dealer both brand new. I was with my wife, I wanted manual but my wife doesn't like to be driving manual so I decided to get the automatic tranny one. A week later I started having doubts even called the dealer if i could swap it with manual. 3 weeks after purchase I have trd exhaust, opti coat, suntek full hood, bumper fenders all installed. Theres no turning back now. Again i'm coming from a married man stand point ok. (the saying happy wife, happy life). I drive the car in manual mode and use the shifters it feels great regardless of AT or Manual we all know the twins lacks of power. Finally after weeks of reading probably an extra months more of reading I'll have either fullblown or vortech installed that should resolve my problem. Its just that doesn't mean its an automatic it can't be fast. I say with a turbo/supercharger + bolt on upgrades with e85 it should do the trick. Again this thread has been fun somehow.

So you're going to just throw your warranty away? You could have saved thousands and just bought used if you were going to do FI right away.

I will only throw away the warranty on the engine. But other stuff will be covered I did talk to the dealership about it. Even adding a turbo and that didnt cause the engine to break down It would still be covered.

Lol, if your engine goes for a shit with a turbine attached to it, what are the odds Toyota is going to do any further investigating than "Yep, it has a turbo, that isn't a warranty thing"

Hooray now we are going after the FI guys. If we can work stance into the thread we will have the trifecta of debatable opinions.

Gay marriage. We could tackle and solve that, I should think.

Would add a whole new dimension to the whole driving stick and what type of tranny is better conversation.

If it engine blows up probably theyll say it because of the turbo. If you run it @7 psi chances of it blowing is less than running it @9 psi or higher. You drive it with or without it type of thing.
