Hey, Tcoat ..... so if you want to go on the cheap, this sells for about $10 USD. No waxing needed. Carry in the trunk to fix scars on the spot.

If you take care to clean out the rattle can nozzle after use, it will last for years of repair for snowplow scars ......

Well now, back in the day, we would have given the scars a shot of this ..... and called it a work-in-progress ......

My 55 Chev was all that. Some grey, some red, some spray, some rolled all with no distinct pattern. Also had 1/2 a spray on vinyl roof. The passenger side.

'Tis one of the very few cars from back then that I think a picture exists of. I will have to find and scan it. That looks brand new and pristine compared to mine.

It's not very big deal.

Part Number: 51449CA0109P rocker panel Left MSRP $327.07 Online Price $247.13

I don't know how much it will cost in Toronto.
Hear in SC i know few people who can replace this rocker panel for 200-300 + 100 for paint.

$600 probably wouldn't even cover just the paint job here.

This is the same diagram the ship had opened up for me on their computer

It was 400 taxes in for the new rocker panel.. and for whatever reason that same program on the computer said "2 hours install time".

I opted to have it fixed as per his recommendation, he said i wouldn't even be able to know its there. the car is in the shop right now. He said he will have to drill a hole to see inside their, if the inner rocker pannel or anything else was damaged as well he'd give me a call and i could reconsider my decision.

What do I need to ask for to ensure it's rust proofed? I just took the car to krown like 2 months prior to this

LOL Mine is fixed I am not the OP.
Below cost $1,200 up here (only cost me $100 deductible) with $700 of that being paint. I was hit by a piece of debris thrown up by a truck. In the brief glimpse I had it looked like a mangled lower control arm. It was still in the air when it hit me and I almost avoided it (damn that flair in front of the wheels). You either pay them or live with it. Now in fairness to the body shop that is an "insurance" price and probably would not have been quite as much if paying privately.
Bet the OP's repair would be $2,500 or more here.

He should drill holes in order to check condition of the part # 3 on the pict. ( it's Part Number: 51572CA0609P reinf plate Right MSRP $103.05 Online Price $77.86).

After that he probably lets you know about all damage and final repair cost.

Your (damaged) rocker panel will be cutted and replaced (with welding) by new one. After that preparing + priming + painting. Anti rust protection you can check after this repairing visually under your car (not by your phone!).

that section of rocker (just about half way, the other half comes as part of a new quarter panel) pays 7.5 hrs install by itself. that's before the door is removed too. it pays 1.4hrs paint, PLUS blend time on the quarter/sail panel. then removal/installation of the quarter glass, tail light, rear bumper (to do it right)

that adds up to $1142. 11.5 body, 4.2 paint, 4.2 paint material, plus $338.14 in parts. thats with MD rates ($40 body, $40 paint, $26 material) so for $400, don't expect it done right unless someone is bored out of their mind and doesn't care about making any profit off the job

these times are from CCC One collision estimating software. they are updated daily and are always current

Yeah $400 to cut/weld/paint seems absurd. If you're not doing this through insurance, I hope they don't come with an astronomical price in the end to surprise you with.

Fixed!

Decided to go with the repair route.

Good news, inner rocker panel didnt even take damage. They said there's a massive gap between the 2 and that's why it dents so easily.

The paint match is spot on ! the only thing is the gravel guard, which loooks alot newer than the gravel guard on the quarter panel and also has a bit of peel on top, he said these will fall off over time.. what do you guys think?
