THis^ This^ and This^
In my books even the 6 is a poser. Same thing applies to Mustangs, Challengers, Chargers, etc. The American manufacturers have always done this. They make a flagship performance car that they sell very few of at a loss and then have the sub versions that they sell by the bucket full at a huge profit. Not saying that there is anything actually wrong with the subs as cars some are very good but people buy them just to say they have a XXXX. I read once that there are now about twice as many 69 Chevelle "SSs" on the road then they ever made. Posers sometimes get carried away.

Like the Ecoboost Mustang, the Camaro is still too big of a car for my personal tastes.

Or it could be that what's important to you (big hp/tq/V-8 engine) is not as important to another person. A lady I work with just picked up one of the new Mustangs. She test drove all 3 versions (Ecoboost, V-6, 5.0) and chose the V-6 because, in her words "the turbo scared me, the V-6 was just right and the V-8 was way too scary". Nothing wrong with that, in fact, it's all the people not buying the V-8 versions that help keep us enthusiasts in our "top end models". Do you think Ford, GM and Dodge would keep making the "top dogs" if everyone else quite buying those "poser Mustangs/Camaros/Challengers"? And if they did, the cost on those V-8s would skyrocket. So next time you see someone driving one of those "posers", stop and shake their hand and thank them for enabling us enthusiasts to be able to pursue and afford our passion.

I think what I wrote came off way more harsh and critical than I intended as I did not make it clear I was talking about the poser crowd only. I was referencing a certain group in my rant and did not intend it to reflect on all the buyers. There are perfectly valid reasons to not want the top line version.

I'm really thinking hard about the new sixth gen Camaro SS. Next summer, it might happen. I definitely would wait until the kinks in the new model were worked out though, and buy a '17 instead of a '16.
On the topic of the 2.0 Turbo, I do like that Chevy has it as the base model engine. I feel the Turbo 4 -> V6 -> V8 price progression feels more natural than Ford's Ecoboost price model. Plus, GM has made some awesome 2.0 Turbo's in the past (Sky Redline/Solstice twins) |

If Ford or Chevy made a new small coupe sports car from the ground up they could make something really special. I wish they would. They seem to be doing pretty well lately when it comes to engines.

I was going off the Camaro specs only, but sure if you can get the same performance out of the 4, its all good. I'm guessing it will be a while that will be in the line up though. if you can get it out of the 4, you can do the same changes to the 8 and boost it further. Oh and it has to be from the factory, with a warranty...
