I like the silencers in better.Ran for a few weeks without and you loose torque off idle.I installed the UEL and downpipe and tried both ways and I think it runs much stronger with silencers in and sounds real rumbly at start up and any time you hit the gas.It was a bit obnoxious with them out,but cool too!

I highly recommend the Nameless downpipe(replaces overpipe version) with Helmholtz resonator(I also got the catted version) it makes the Greddy Evo3 sound amazing! lessens "drone" a bit. I also removed all trunk interior pieces down to bare metal and used some "hushmat"(like dynamat) under where the spare would be etc and it was amazing the difference in sound inside cab. point is there are many solutions to loudness inside cab, but nothing beats the beautiful sound of this exhaust.

Can someone take a picture of the silencers, I'm looking for replacements.

Have you tried contacting Greddy to see if they can sell you replacements?

I decided to buy a vibrant ultra quiet resonator that I'm getting welded into the cat back. This way I don't have a restrictive ugly silencer.

Does anyone know of any resonated front pipes that fit the evo3 catback?

I used the Nameless Performance front pipe with highflow cat and helmholtz resonator, I found that it smoothed the exhaust note. It is still loud of course, but sounds amazing. I recommend using a bit of dynamat/hushmat/sound deadening stuff in the trunk to help with sound in cab. I removed trunk pieces and spare, and matted the whole floor. it helped quite a bit. hope this helps

Great advice, I think I'll pick up some dynamat and do the trunk. I'm getting the resonator welded into my non resonated front pipe so I'm hoping it kills some of the drone. I watched a few exhaust note videos on before/after install and it really does seem to work. I'll post a video of my before/after this weekend.

I should mention I'm on a AVO UEL turbo kit, and the exhaust sounds soo mean. But certain rpms I can't take the drone lol.

Definitely gives the car some BALLS!! and brings some of that familiar boxer rumble out!! VERY HAPPY and i think it's safe to say the silencers will not be going on ever again

I've had the evo3 silencers off from day one when I got it installed. You're right about that sweet spot!! It depends howuch pressure you're putting on the gas pedal 😂. I recently put on the HKS dual resonated front pipe. It reduced the drone substantially in the cabin and gave it some top end rumble. Look into it! It sounds even more aggressive. I commute 80 miles a day for work too haha

Also I've loved the sound of the evo3.nice and deep when it's on idle but can be very loud when you want it to be

Have the silencers on all the time...way to loud for me it just makes my ears bleed. I had HKS headers, with Ultimate racing front pipe and over pipe in 2.75" and f me...it was loud and the drone killed my ears. I have taken them off when I went on the dyno though.

Maybe I am just getting old!

I know the feeling, and I'm UEL turbo. Still drones so much. I ended up getting a vibrant 1141 welded into my catless/nonresonated front pipe. Next I'm getting a magnaflow shorty race muffler welded into the catback. It should produce a much lower dB.
Currently I'm running at 75-78dB incabin at 60-70mph. Was upper 80s without the resonator. I'm hoping for mid/low 60s with the new muffler, which will be a lot more daily driver friendly.

My front pipe is cated atm. Where did you weld the vibrant 1141 on the front pipe..as in which end? Did you have enough room? Pics? I need to do the same thing

I'll get pics when it's on the lift but it's where the front and mid pipe connect. I actually had them move the flange up. It's technically right below the shifter as this was the only place big enough to fit the large resonator.
