What would you do, buy a 50 hp diesel?
I do just 10-15 miles per day to go to work, the rest I enjoy on country and mountain road or track days.

p.s. the 350z gets less than 20

I just can't believe you drive 85-90MPH with those insane gas prices!

This is really encouraging, the realist low to mid 30s hwy mileage! I have a 6spd Veloster and if I hyper mile it I can get in the low 40s but 75-80 hwy speeds put me smack dab in the 34-35 mpg range. It will be nice to have a car with some power AND mileage.

This the motorway...in Italy you must keep the most rights free lane but usually is:
50-55 1st lane: lorries, buses, very slow cars
55/80 2nd lane: lorries and buses overtaking at 60, cars (at 75-80)
80+ 3rd lane: cars, business small vans.
I usually drive at 90 as we have the "tutors" (avarage speed cameras, 10% tolerance so it's 130+10% kph->90 mph, add the speedo error and there you go)
I just set the cruise control and slow down only when all 2/4 lanes are busy.
If you drive like this you often have to move right for people driving at 100+

On the secondary roads it depends. On country roads usually I go from 50 to 80/90 on the straights depending on the size of the road, the presence of speed cameras or the conditions of the tarmac.

On twisty open roads with no cameras and optimal visibililty (no blind corners or blind intersection) sometimes I drive well into 3 figures...

You can guess why in Italy powerful diesels are very popular. A BMW 330d can give you 30+ MPG at 100+ mph.

Wow, the fastest posted speed limit in my area is 65MPH. I've never seen a speed limit over 70/75MPH in the USA before either.

To see higher speed limits you have to get out west where there are fewer cars and straighter highways.

We seem to have a number of folks using fuelly.com. Looks like a great resource, but I notice that the FRS' are not being grouped together. I wonder if you have to use a common title like Scion // FRS // 2013 in order to get them in a category of their own. I think everyone is listing whether they are MT or AT(a good thing), but I would have to look again. This will be a valuable tool to track overall fuel efficiency.

Keep up the great work!

Best avg MPG 34.2

I'm past my 1K break in and on my first tank of gas (I'm at aout 1/3 left in the tank) my avg mpg display is showing 31.6. This is with lots of redline blasts through first and second. My driving is about 70% highway, 30% city (Milwaukee), and my previous tanks when under 4K were 34/33/34 avg based on gal of fillup/odometer.

Also, I find the avg mpg display to usually be about 1-1.5mpg low. For my normal DD I'm expecting about 30mpg even with a bunch of spirited driving mixed in.

Local highway with a bunch of stop lights

26.6 is the highest mpg I got so far. When I stepped on the gas a little bit it went down to 25.1 -_-.....

I read this as 1,280 miles on a single tank of gas.

Please clarify the confusion?

Most engines will have a slight increase in mpg after break in. They are tight when new. Also, altitude can have a pronounced affect, with the ecu leaning out afm @ higher altitudes due to less 02 in the air. My Toyota 4x4 gets 16-17 mpg mixed @ sea level, but I have seen as high as 23mpg in the same truck running a whole tank @ 8000-10,000ft+ mountain elevations.

Heh, sorry for the confusion. When I hit 1000 miles I filled up with a fresh tank of gas so I could do a full tank calculation when running to 7,500 rpm. I am currently at 1280 miles on the odometer, or 280 miles into my first tank of gas since I crested the 1000 mile mark. I'll post up my final calculations and displayed mpg tonight when I fill up again.
