They probably also charge for temporary permits when you have a rental or borrowed car. Fucking cheap bastards.
Sometimes it's also because students pass the parking permit from person to person, and the school may have had issues w/ fraud before in the past.

Some schools are smarter by assigning license plate(s) to a pass w/ verified ownership/registration. Some just force one permit per car.

Stock keeps some (but not all) UV out. UV is not the primary contributor to heat soak though, it's infrared.

I have my front windshield tinted on my BRZ and it is a night/day difference in heat under direct sunlight.

If it is clear, usually it is not illegal.

Call the school and ask if you really need the parking permit. My school flat out told me that I'll never be towed from a student lot for not having a permit.

That's the stuff, I knew Amazon would have it. Just had to find the right name of it. If you look under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" there's a bunch more similar products.
Make sure the reviews confirm what the product is. I always go through the reviews and make sure everybody is happy with it. I just found the smallest amount for cheap on a quick search.

Much more in this pack and maybe it's thicker? The reviews are doing exactly what you are so you should be good to go with either one: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Grafix-9-Inch-12-Inch-Cling-6-Pack/dp/B002J6CO9I/ref=pd_sbs_263_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0PTW67ECM5MKDFJ35Q GB"]Amazon.com: Grafix 9-Inch-by-12-Inch Cling Film Clear, 6-Pack[/ame]

I have used a piece of clear plastic packaging that is used on almost everything. then I apply the sticker to the plastic and cut around the edges of the sticker. this gives me a sticker that will stay strait when I wedge it into the corner of the windshield. sometimes I will have to wedge something behind it. from the outside it looks like it is stuck to the window. this has worked on many different stickers over the years.

I don't know about your school, but the university I went to had notorious Parking Nazis whose sole purpose in life was to drive around and ticket people.

They'd ticket you as you walked to a kiosk to buy a short term pass!

They ticketed my aunt, who works at the school, while she was parked in front of parking services to buy a renewal for her sticker that expired that day (you can't buy them ahead of the expiration)!

They ticketed people parked in an empty dirt lot on a rainy day when the paved lot (that requires passes) was full because nobody wanted to walk in the deluge!

One of my biggest reasons to be happy graduating from there.

3 years and occasionally parking in the teachers lot with no trouble for me. Fortunately my school actually has a deep desire to help students succeed rather than seeing them as customers.

Mine (UC) was more like take a number, follow all the rules, get the hell out.

It did help me learn about real life aka how to work with people, don't get screwed, deal with a-holes, and so on. I also had lots of fun and met some great people.

Well, and it was right next to the beach. . .

One of the schools I attended didn't tow people. What they did instead was they would ticket you. And they would keep ticketing you. The tickets couldn't actually be enforced like municipal parking tickets. They were just private fines levied by the school. So a lot of kids would just ignore them.

Meanwhile, the parking "police" would cross-reference the car's registration with student names and home addresses. When you went to register for classes the next semester, you'd find that you had a hold on your registration that couldn't be lifted until you paid the tickets. If you were in your last term, they would put a hold on your graduation so that you couldn't officially receive your degree.

I transferred out of there to another school. Right before I left I had to drop by campus to pick something up, so I parked in the faculty lot just to thumb my nose at them. Sure enough, when I came back out, there was a ticket on my windshield. I laughed, balled it up and threw it in the trash. They sent it to collections. I never did pay it, but they really wanted their fucking money.
