So just got done speaking to Michael the store manager at the Dublin Americas tire. He stated that the chipping and scratching is completely normal on the hub itself. I didn't even bother wasting my time. Going to try the corporate route now

I take it he didn't address the other scratches at all? Did you ask him about the other ones?

He saw them. He said its all "normal" and that it was done to his own work wheels that were powder coated. I can tell he was just talking out his ass. Didn't want to bother wasting time and causing a scene. Hopefully there's a few numbers I can call that will get it taken care of. Good thing is I have you guys + multiple local shops that have seen this and can identify this is NOT normal. I also got his name so we will see how it turns out

sucks, let us know the outcome.

Definitely one of those things to pay extra on at a real shop that specializes in performance/low profile tires/expensive wheels to ensure this type of thing doesnt happen.

Got off the phone just now with one of the VPs from Americas Tire. It was a great experience so far and hopefully he can fake care of it for me. He asked what the best solution would be for me and I insisted on having a new set. Hopefully it all works out.

Okay great news. Tracy, the VP, just left me a message saying they can get a replacement set of wheels of equal value. It's a bummer that now I have to wait 3 months to order a new set but I'm glad there was a solution.

Glad to hear someone took ownership and you're getting new wheels!

I've got personal horror stories about Discount Tire around here... As it is, most tire places will scratch wheels because they don't even use the non-marring wheel sockets.

I'm glad it was resolved in your favor. How many wheels are they replacing? I would personally try to get paid out and go for a powder coat, and keep the change. It would save everyone money and you would have some in your pocket.

They did offer to get them powdered but I think a brand new set would be best. They're going to be taking back the old wheels but I still feel like I'm losing some how...

I hope they will mount your tires for free on the new set, since you already paid.
You are losing. 3 months wait. But be happy that you were able to resolve this without any big hassle.
