basically you're making a poor mans active setup.
However, using the eq on your Hu should allow you to do the same thing. I have my 10k on my HU set to 1 tick down, something like -2.5db
Cool thanks. My eq is bottomed out for the highs just to make it tolerable, and since I'm not bridging anymore, I figured I might as well try to use those other two channels for something. Hopefully this will give me a little more control. Thanks for the help!

On the topic of gain on the ktp 445u recommends no higher than the 9oclock position for speaker level inputs. Exceeding that could lead to noise

I did some brush up on passive crossovers. This may not work as I think the crossover expects load and the amps line level inputs are something like 10k ohms. You may actually need a active cross over to do what you are looking to do

You're right, I didn't think about the amp's impedance. Well that's why I wanted that second opinion. I guess it's going to be full active then, anyone have suggestions on a crossover that has band pass capabilities? There doesn't seem to be a lot of choices on Crutchfield, or any of my normal shopping sites.

because I am curious, what audio source are you using for listening?

Primarily Bluetooth, but I've tried the auxiliary cable and fm as well, since I've had issues with Bluetooth sound quality in the past.

I'm thinking that this is a crossover issue. Some music, particularly pop with female vocals, is very shrill, while other stuff, like rock is muddied because all the highs are eq'd out. I used a tone generator to see how low my tweeters are playing, and they're getting a fair amount of signal around 1k, so it seems like I'm probably getting resonance in the tweeters. I opened up the crossovers, and looking at the components, it looks like they're simple 6db crossovers, so I'm thinking a decent active crossover will help me out.
