Actually the comments shown by default are quite clean because they did this:

I think those look similar to RE-11's.

Otherwise, fun little video
I have to agree with you on this. The stock michelins are very good tires and grip very well when you need them to. Those china tires they put on are no where near close to the stock tire. I was really bummed to see them do that since all it proves is that nice potenzas are better than cheap china tires. Who woulda thunk? lol Instead of trying to prove that the potenzas are better than the primacys for track applications. Again MCM letting us down in the realistic applicable facts dept..

Tires are definitely super important, but it's worth noting that the stock suspension on the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 is quite a bit better than the stock suspension on most cars.

Side note: I can't stand these Mighty Car Mods guys. They are total ricers, and I say that as someone who loves & owns only Japanese cars.

I've seen almost all their videos, and they are far from being ricers. You probably only watched a couple of their most viewed videos which had that honda civic build, which was a specific ricer project along with that ford laser build.

What's the point of this video? Better tires and better suspension improve lap times? No shit?

The best part is when you look at a hater's profile picture and its a Nissan Altima.

I'll one up you.

A lot of the time, it's a supercar. Usually a yellow or green Lamborghini. Also, they are of the pre-teen to teen years.

They actually do serious builds and they do 'joke' builds. Look up the supergramps build for a serious one.

Off-topic: I don't really understand why people hate on ricers so much. You like cars, they like cars. You put a lot of work into yours and so do they. I don't like that style either, but who cares. It's not my car. As someone who "loves & owns only Japanese cars", you should have a better understanding of this.

When I lived in Japan, I saw all kinds of crazy 'riced' cars. Have you ever seen a minivan with a 4 foot long splitter and two huge wings/ears sticking out the back? Have you ever seen a kei van completely done over for an anime theme? I'm talking custom paint, custom interior, anime plushies covering the carpeted dash, custom vinyl, etc. I'd rather see one of those rolling down the road than a generic sedan or pos beater. Even if you don't like it, at least you get a laugh.

I appreciate the time and money put into those cars by the owners. It's certainly more than I've managed to put into my car so far.

/end off-topic rant

They bought an S2000 and did nothing but add NOS and stupid vinyls, and then made a video about how they were letting it go to "go back to their roots" with a Nissan.

I just found it really, really stupid, but I own both an S2000 and an S14, so hey. They could have done so much more. It would have been cool to see a real track build with a supercharger or turbo.

In that same video where he said he was going back to his roots, he also said why he did the mods he did. To do something he's never done before, experience things in a different way. Btw there was a lot more than NOS and vinyls, the only thing major that wasn't done was the FI.

I don't think the hate for the aesthetic is that strong because like you say, do your own thing and most people respect that.

I think there are 'haters' because there is a culture of ignorance attached to that style, the "+5 hp per sticker" and "wings make it go faster" "blown the welds on your intake granny shifting" are not fantasies, there are people out there who believe ridiculous things when it comes to car performance and will argue it to death instead of googling or putting in some effort.

I think the dryness of the presenters is misleading, they are incredibly self aware of what they are doing and the vast majority of it is tongue in cheek. I mean, do you really take a video with a dream sequence involving cameras shooting rainbows and flying valve covers and a baby Ser Davos Seaworth emerging from a rainbow pastry 100% seriously?
