How bad would this be to take on/off the car? Would it hold up to that kind of thing?

I'm considering something like this for the fuel economy alone (though you won't find me complaining about the handling benefits, to be sure) but it's not legal for me when racing (AutoX, STX). It does look like I'd need to get under the car, but it might not be much worse than swapping wheels.

There is an optional mount that requires drilling that I did (very minor in a non noticeable spot on the bottom of the bumper where there is a number of mount tabs). Even with that in I would say 15-20m removal, 30-45m install (if you had previously drilled, or if you decided to not drill and leave that spot alone, it just makes it a little more rigid). The hardest part is lining up the parking brake cable mount with the bolt and leveling the diffuser, but if you just "winged it" and have don't it a few times I think you could get it down pretty quick. If you are only running the rear section that takes a good chunk of the install time off.

If you are able to leave the 4 install tabs on the car that don't change any aero properties and are simply mounts that helps re-install time quite a bit too.

That's too bad for us Series.Blue, Aozora and FRS-RS1.0 owners...
That's almost a guaranteed 3700 person reduction in market penetration.

And if we designed it around the series blue covers, all the other users (minus the 3700 people you mentioned) would have to purchase another part to make the diff/suspension covers work properly and they would be upset at us for designing it that way. We went the route that made the most sense to us and the 30,000+ FR-S/BRZs out there without the covers. We're never going to satisfy everyone with any part we come out with, no matter what we do. We are always open to custom units as well, but expect to at least triple the cost of what an off the shelf unit is.

This is a problem we face all the time and honestly one that I personally dislike dealing with as I want to satisfy everyone. At a later date, if we see that the market base is large enough to do a custom set of these for the JDM underbody panels, we will look into doing that. Realistically we need 50 people to want this to keep the costs where we need them. We thoroughly believe that, while the JDM panels do reduce drag some, our diff/suspension covers will do dramatically more .

Our current, personal goal, is to come out with a cost effective alternative to the JDM panels that cover even more of the underbody and are truly flat. Hopefully someone with JDM panels tries out the diff covers and posts up how much work it is to make them fit with one another as well.

I didn't order the diff cover with my preorder, but if you have a templete or something you can send with mine I can do a writeup on exactly what needs to be done if you have the JDM panels.

I've ordered the full set and have JDM panels. I see the benefit of having both, and will make it work. Can-do goes a long way.

It would be nice if the rear diffuser met up with the rear bumper. Instead of extending past it. Or it would be nice to have the diff cover and under panels sold without the rear diffuser.

Manufacturing wise, this would have been difficult to get 100% right. This would have also resulted in a diffuser that cannot move vertically and allow for various exhausts.

We can discuss selling the underpanels without the rear diffuser, but the diff covers bolt directly to the rear diffuser. Please contact FT-86 or Velox (sales@velox-motorsports.com) and we can discuss this.

I'd love to see more pictures of the diffuser from farther back (with the whole, or most of the car show in it) if anyone that has a prototype gets a chance to snap a few images.

At what ride height was your CFD (and/or real world measurements) performed?

OEM ride height.

For those not following us on facebook or instagram:

Company dropped them all off for me to put on pallets and check to ensure they were all bent correctly.

First look at surface finish of the powder coat and the logos.

Quality control and final packaging set-up in the living room. Dogs on guard to ensure I don't slack any.

Installed one with the OEM exhaust. It clears, just barely, but it does clear. I've driven around for a week now and can't get the exhaust to hit the diffuser, so that's a good thing .
