No the OP isn't crazy, I too find the same issue, it's COOL air never COLD notuntil you've been chilling the cabin for about 20 min or it's just cool day ambient.

For the few of you that say this - there is something wrong with your car.
ALL of my toyotas (the BRZ included) have the COLDEST AC of any car I have ever owned.
Sometimes if I forget and leave it on and it blows on my hand, on the wheel, my hand gets freezing cold.
Maybe I'll post a video of a temp sensor in the airflow later but it's only supposed to get to 85 today.

I am thinking the same thing, Ive owned Toyotas all my life and have always been in love with their AC system.

That's a great idea. I'll do the same but we also have to post a pic of the same thermometer in an ice bath or show a picture of its NIST-traceable cal sticker.

I had the same issue, 2014 Brz with 30k on the odo, I checked the freon with a gauge and it was almost empty, i recharged and god damn, while cruising on the highway if it's set to Lo temp, Mid-blast, with or without recirculate it's unbelievably cold. Also gets cold within the first 15-30 seconds after a cold start.

Worth the 100 or so $ to get it properly recharged, if you live near a major city (read: bronx) you can find a shop that'll do it on the side for half that.

This sounds really dumb but make sure the center dash vents are actually opened. If closed they can have a big impact on how long it takes to cool the car. (Ask me how I know)

it was 100F when I got out of the gym today and the interior of my car was really hot, even with my window shade up. turned on the AC to 4 bars and cold air was coming out within 15 seconds on the dot. AC seems fine for me.

Why spend $100 on a recharge if you have warranty take it to the dealership. A 4000 mile car shouldn't be low on Freon, that's my case right now.

Drove around today with a thermometer in my center vent. Fresh air in, fan set to #3, 85 outside (according to the car), and the vent blew at 45 degrees.

Can anyone beat a 40 degree delta?
