The Wi-Fi dongle is a tiny little USB stick that plugs in to the USB cable that comes out of the back of the unit. I haven't used one yet, but others here have used non powered USB 2.0 hubs on this same USB cable to use with the DVR camera. |

There are two available ports (one of which requires an adapter for the existing front console). You can use a USB hub to connect multiple devices. I currently have the ca-fi dashcam using one of the ports and then a cheap, non-powered, USB hub to connect a USB thumbdrive and the wifi dongle (stored in the glove box).

Frogive my lack of searching, please, but this thread is huge. I have a few questions for now, hopefully they will be easy to answer.
1) Can someone link to the adapter to allow the factory USB port to be used? 2) Can I leave an OBD dongle inplace with the car turned off and not worry about it draining the battery? Does it make a difference if it's USB or BT, as far as battery draining? Of course the different tranmission methodes with have pros and cons. 3) Is there a prefered back up camera? 4) And finally, I saw a couple of posts about updates breaking features. Is this something I would have to worry about as a fairly basic user? (I haven't even rooted my android phone and don't really see the need to for my use.) Thanks guys. |

2) should be fine. I have a bluetooth one I keep plugged in all the time. 3) don't think there is one. 4) Nothing to worry about here.

@Pwolf: It might also be worth digging up the link to the SWC/Aux adapter and bringing it down to this page, so they're both easy to find.

Ah, top of the page. Excellent.
So, everyone remember: With the "number of posts per page" setting set to "forum default", these are at the top of page 91. |

So, has anyone ordered one in the last 2-3 weeks? I ordered mine on May 26th and still haven't received a shipping e-mail. I e-mailed them 3-4 days ago and they said it was in work. The "shipped in less than 2 weeks" ends tomorrow.

Speaking for the Dashlinq4 n00bs, thanks. It might be worth it to dig through this thread and make a short FAQ. Actually, given the size of this thread, android HUs might deserve their own subforum. |

I saw you guys were having trouble with getting write permissions with root so I spent some time to make a rooted stock rom (3/18 update). I don't have this unit anymore so I can't test to see if it works but feel free to try it and let the others know if it works

SVXdc, do you have pin outs for the connector? I would like to use a USB connection for the canbus (non canbus unit) I'm wondering if I could grab a cheap OBD2 - USB cable, rip the OBD2 port out of an dead car, hack and slash the two canbus wires to the OBD2 port and plug that to the OBD2 - USB cable. Any thoughts? I searched for any posts on canbus but mainly only got returns about an update breaking BT. And the search wont look for "can bus". |
