If you want to go super low and mess with your ride height they yeah, BCs or similar will definitely make it happen.

Coilivers are just starting to come out though. For those not in a big rush you might want to wait for Fortune Autos, or Tein Monoflexes, or Stance GRs or who knows what else.

Personally I'm not planning on top shelf coilivers either (not planning on competing for titles with this car) but whatever I do get will need to be a proven setup. Am keeping an eye on the TRD dampers, RCE coils & whatever Whiteline will be doing to correct geometry.

YMMV and all that. Best of luck!

Used Subaru Legacy Coilovers..... Brian at AST made them...for Phoenix Racing and Spec B Leggy in 2009/10... same mounting points as the BRZ/FRS...just have to get the sway bar bracket fabricated for the front...and make sure the valving/spring rates do what I need them to..

You guys will learn...Subaru is pretty much like Tinker toys...theres ALWAYS some crossover from one model to the next......Ie: Rear Suspension is GR/Leggy... sooo theres always some options..the aftermarket will figure out that they can fabricate a sway bar bracket on some of the same model stuff they have already to avoid HUGE redesign costs...which isn't necessary..

the sway bars are another piece that can be interchanged... the Stock BRZ/FRS rear sway is 14mm...a Stock WRX rear Sway is 16mm..and a Stock STi 08-10 rear sway is 18mm and 19mm for 11 and up STi...these are all for the rear.. ..

so you see what I mean..

great info scooby South. I am not a subaru guy, but I figured this data would be out there. I am wondering if the camber curve correction and bump steer kits available on previous subarus will work here to correct lowered suspension geometry. Is there a central repository for this data yet?

Thanks for the data on the sway bars btw. I'd like to get a pile of parts together and spend a day at the track getting a setup that works. Maybe a couple other socal members here will want to help out trackside for the testing and interchanges?

Send a message via AIM to Racecomp Engineering
2008 to 2010 STI rear bars are 18mm too, so that's another option.

so do you think the shock travel is going to be the same? also what spring rates do you have in mind?

Yes I do actually... AST and Vorshlag has indicated that the stroke and dynamic travel is within tolerable levels.. Words from Brian, "They are almost identical..."... soo..if a Professional tell me that ...its good enough for me....

Spring rates I am looking at ...5.5k Squared, 5k front/5.5k rear...6k front/6.5k rear...they should be close to what a Miata is running...lots of testing to do for sure..

Its going to be completely different for Bump steer on this car...as it is a Rear Steer Vehicle...meaning it will toe-in on the camber curve..used to be it toed out because all Subaru up to this point were Front Steer cars...so you would get Toe out...makeing turn-in kinda hinky...thus the bumpsteer kits kinda controlled that..

good to know and i guess since the fronts are struts running something squared like that would probably put you in the ballpark despite the fact that ast is using slightly higher than 7kg/mm in the rear for their miata shocks

Not necessarily, the Subaru engineers had the option of giving the bumpsteer curve whatever shape they wanted, regardless of where the steering arm is. If the wheels are toed-in in bump, it isn't because of the steering arm location.

hmmm interesting...now that I think of it...with the flipped lower Control Arms...that minimizes that effect....Good Call
