thats fair comment

but why not fit your own exhaust if you think the Cosworth own exhaust is overpriced

That's a pretty gray area. They may be referring only to the exhaust components, it doesn't specify. If the SC kit doesn't come with some sort of certificate of guarantee or something (and afaik it doesn't but some of the guys that own one could speak to this) that claim from GTSpirit is, well... worth the paper it was written on.
There may also be a caveat that the warranty is then assumed by Cosworth, not your local dealer. Kinda like getting Dinan work on a BMW.

I realize the Cosworth kits are pretty pricey, and may repel many people, but I think it's a pretty rad package. Particularly the supercharger stage 2 kit. But then again, I'm no different than all of the Apple sheep, since I bough the stage 2 kit...

Another thing to take into consideration is that it's all sorted for you in many ways. Kind of like buying a pre-build PC vs building your own. It's more expensive for the pre-built version, and the DIY can be better for cheaper, but it's the convenience. But what do I know?

First of all,

If you aren't in your late 30s or early 40s, that's bogus; that's OUR WORD. Got me checking Amazon for the DVD now.

Second, I wouldn't compare buying the Cosworth stuff to i-tards lining up whatever Apple is regurgitating this week. The Cosworth products have the goods and it sounds like your purchase was based on really looking at the products and aligning your choices with what you want.

I would pay premium prices for complete solutions the stack on each other without having to replace stuff purchased earlier. That makes good sense. You are going to pay for that, though, and some folks are going to find going piecemeal and cherry-picking from multiple sources better for them.

Very true. Technically my kit is pair with a bastard exhaust. I'm just using cosworth tune with my exhaust.

I wouldn't mind the Supercharger unit. Looks to be quality.

Already done exhaust and I'm happy with the Tomei UEL and Invidia headerback.

B) They'll have a hard time getting to truly dangerous speeds...

C) It's cheap and safe car, that'll probably cost 5 grand used by the time my kids (Who aren't even born yet) get to the driving age.

Or they can borrow mine. I'm sure it'll still be in the garage in some form or another by then. It'd be a hard financial year before I consider selling what I consider to be the last everymans lightweight sports coupe.

Agreed 100% although doubt I would have bought it for them. Helped maybe but not bought.

Yeah I'm speaking as if my kids are going to be 17 in 2033.

I bought my 86 brand new for 35,500 AUD. But I was 28 when i bought it.

If the cars don't become the next AE86 and have Takumi Tax applied, then I think they'd be great 5k beater to buy a kid as a first car.

Although in 17 years autodrive will probably be compulsory and manual RWD will be illegal.

The enthusiasts will all have to go live in the desert Mad Max style.

I have Cosworth 1.1 Kit and it is perfectly centered, altho it shifted 5mm left over time. I didnt try to fix that yet and I doubt there will be any issues with it.

To get max HP from the power packs you need both 1.3 and 2.0.

Total cost: $12636 just parts not including installation

Base car: $26000 + 12636 for Cosworth = $38636 (with no factory warranty)

Its a dramatic increase in the cost of the car especially if you dont install everything yourself.
Anyone who needs professional installation can probably add another $2-4K to the price.

Bare bones Corvette with credit union discount = $51245

Difference is $12609 so more than $10K. I get what your saying though and agree.

Would not dump over $12k into new FR-S that would void warranty and leave me at huge risk.
You dont need 1.3 Kit to run 2.0, you can use anything else.
Except you would need Ecutek, thats required and not in 2.0.
If you buy any other supercharger, you are not locked to their exhaust either.

Just saying, for some it is reasonably priced, for others it is not.
I bought 1.1 at a very good price and I will upgrade from my 1.1 Kit to 1.3 soon.
I like the Helmholtz and I didnt found any other makers with pipe like that and I have a tune for it, so it is an easy upgrade. Where do I find ceramic coated manifold? I would probably consider buying Nameless directly, but here in EU Cosworth is actually cheaper and I get reputable tune that works and doesnt break my car and I can flash it myself, no need to pay someone here.

Edit: I rather pay more for Cosworth than things like Borla, but thats me. IMMW
