Having some troubles with OFT.

I apologize in advance if anything I ask is something that should be obvious to you, its not to me.

Day 1 got the OFT. Followed the videos, uploaded BIN files.
Stage 1 93 octane and stage 2 e85, saved them in slot 2 and 3.
Went outside flashed the car stg 1.

Fast forward 2 months... I have not used the OFT since the 1st time. Sitting in my car I remember I have it and wanted to finally try out the Real time diagnostics (I never did the first time I used it)...

Here's where it gets interesting for me...

I plug up the flash tablet, I press write, I see the asterisk next to the stage 1 tune, reminding me that's what I am currently on, all good, except my idiot self pressed on the stock tune and starts to write it, ofcourse I am not going to just unplug the Tablet mid-through a flash so I said screw it worse that can happen I flash it back.... then I get this....

I said perfect, I must need to update the tablet, saved by the bell...
Except when the tablet takes me to the tunes screen there is now no asterisk to be found on neither the stock tune or the stage 1....

That's problem # 1.... any ideas? I turned the car off and unplugged the tablet. Should I go outside and attempt at writing stg1 again?

Problem #2...

Whenever I go to real time diagnostics I get this message...

weird part is, if I keep clicking on OK on that screen eventually it works

Can someone please take a look at the reading and tell me if something is out of range or anything I should be concerned with.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Your numbers won't necessarily be accurate until you update your template file (which you have to do via computer). Otherwise, if your advance mult is indeed accurate, then your engine is pulling timing. In normal operation, it should be 1.00. AFR and fuel trims look ok.

As for the first question, I'm not sure.

Right before I went outside to do all this I plugged the OFT into my computer and opened OFM... It said that it updated. @khc .... so if it is indeed accurate, could you please explain what you mean by pulling timing and what I should look into?

First thing you need to do is go to the openflash website and download the latest template file. Update your OFT through the manager once you get it.

Hook up the tablet to your car and see which rom you've loaded up. If in doubt, reflash the Stg1 rom again. Before flashing, make sure the connection is secure (the cable) and don't open/close anything while flashing your ecu.

Advance multiplyer being under 1.0 probably means you have a bit of knock. Log for knock and see where it's occuring.

Edit: Get template file from here

Could you point me in the right direction as to finding the latest template file? Maybe a link.. thanks

Once I download it and save it to my computer, how do I import it into OFM?

Sorry for the noob questions, just want to make sure I do it right.

How do I log ?

EDIT: Thanks for the link, forget my question about loggin, sorry. Its easier taking care of one thing at a time.

There is an Update/Upgrade button on the left in openflash manager. Click it and explore to the template file.

The template file only effects the logging and logging display. It does does not effect flashing ecu.
The astrix indicating the tune in oft display is only an indicator of the file the oft thinks is in the car , it has no effect on flashing or reading ecu.

Make sure cable is securly plugged into obd port of car an nto oft.
dont try to connect oft to car and laptop at same time
when flashing make sure ignition is full on not just accessory, ie dash indicator and warning lights on. But never start car or have engine unning during read or flash of ecu.

Thank you very much, I downloaded the template you linked and was able to upgrade it to the OFM how you explained.

UPDATE: After updating that template I went back out and was able to successfully (sort of ) flash the car, except I did not know you could not turn the ENGINE on... when it said KEY ON TO CONFIRM I turned the car on... it updated and said SUCCESS...

Except... this morning it drove weird, very very weird.... everytime I shifted into a new gear its like ENGINE BRAKIN starts to happen, it doesn't just cruise like before. I have to press the gas pedal a lot more than before when shifting to keep the rpms stable. Also the car feels very sluggish... what have I done !!! lol

Give it a day or two, the tune is "learning" the car.

Pedal lag is a known issue. If you flash with a warmed up car, it seems to go away a lot quicker.

Good to know! I went out and flashed it back to stock just to feel at ease, this time without turning on the car

It was warm from the drive to work this morning too. I turned it on for a minute but did not drive it and now I am back in my office.

Is it alright that I dont drive it for a few hours after flashing it to stock ?
