RS05RR or RPF1 for handling and track

Hi guys just want some feedback which wheels will be best for handling and track? wither RS05rr or RPF1. looking to get 17x8 et45 for rpf1 and 18x8.5 et38 for rs05rr.

your tire choice will make a bigger difference than picking between those two wheel options.

from the sizes, looks like the RPF1 will be lighter and thus "better handling"

but really though, I agree with 8R6; it depends on your tire choice and how far you push it at the track. wheel weights won't make much of a difference if they're pretty close to each other. pick a wheel design you like.

I have no idea what the RS05RR are, but I do have RPF1's in 17x8 on my car with 235/45/17 dunlop direzza ZII tires. they're wonderful at the track though extremely lacking when not properly warmed up. I experienced that the hard way when I did a 360 pushing the car a bit too much on cold tires (first lap).

The 18"s are generally heavier (hurts acceleration) and the narrow tire sidewalls make the ride harsher. 17" is the sweet spot for comfort and performance on this car.

the weight is negligible when the wheels are close in weight. The RPF1's are probably slightly lighter, but this would be overshadow'd by the tire choice as that has to do with grip more than the weight of the wheel does.

More than likely, you wouldnt notice much of a difference in lap times with a slightly lighter wheel. You would notice a better lap time with a better tire.

I say RPF1's only because the RS05RR's are almost twice the price.

supposedly larger wheels can be more precise and less go cart like. Between the two, like everyone else has said you might net a little better acceleration from the rpf1's, but it would probably be due to you having less rotating mass than anything. I would say the rs05rr's are a better option if your car was a more serious track car. But both of these wheels are really popular for time attack builds, so neither are a bad option. Really the difference you experience from either option will be pretty negligible.

If it were me, id say the rs05rr's are better, simply cause I think they look better. haha

Cant go wrong really between the two.

In Australia the RPF1s are significantly cheaper than the RS05RRs - I run RPF1 17x9 +35 as my track wheels with Hankook RS-3s very happy with them bang for buck.

I would guess that the RS05RR's are a bit stiffer than the RPF1's, due to the spoke design...if you are driving at 10/10ths, that can make a difference. For most humans, it won't matter.

buy the wheel you want.

If you want to be speedracer, this is the wrong car. End of the day you will still be slow lol.

Jk. Sort of. Everyone always gets their panties in a wad/do a lot of "bench racing" of this is 2lbs lighter! Oh yeah? The square root of the coeffiecient allows alignment of the stars which enable altered gravity enabling faster speeds with a wheel that is wider with a lighter tire blah blah blah!
My math is here:
[ (15 m^3 n^(-2) p^(-1)) / (25 m^(-2) n^(-4)) ]^(-3)

The truth:
Are you really THAT fast of a driver to where the wheel you have is what is keeping you from being 0.001 faster?

No. No it is not.

I vote for the RS05RR. Why? It looks better and nearly every other car out there has RPF1's on it.

I was honestly amazed that our drivers could tell the difference, as could the stop watch, when I worked for a IMSA race team. They tested 3 brands of wheels back to back once. Note: world class drivers.

...and did you carry the 2 up there?

I actually think he dropped the 2, it cancelled with the pi, im pretty sure. Unless my uneven obtuse geometry of oblong circles class tought me the wrong thing
