Consider a higher deductible. Mine is $1k...having insurance for 14 years I've saved the deductible many times over in lower premiums.

But that depends though, as you will always save the money if nothing ever happens when it comes to insurance. Preferred carriers (as opposed to standard/non-standard ones) usually don't have a big difference as long as you're not a young driver and/or have a bunch of violations/accidents on your record.

Personally, the difference for me (also having been insured for a similar length of time) at this age is minimal to the point where I don't mind paying a few extra dollars for a lower deductible, as I have $250 comprehensive deductibles (but with a $0 glass deductible) and a $500 collision deductible. I haven't used either of them though, but obviously I can't predict when I'll need it.

I got my quote today for my car. Dallas with State Farm. Right at $700 for 6 months. That is full coverage and many of the perks.

This thread is insane. My 2000 mazda 626 costs me like $582.00 for 6 months with the lowest insurance I could get on it. I'm 23, 1 at fault accident (which actually wasn't my fault, but at the time I was a bit distraught and shaken and I said it was my fault and that's all it takes) and the car is as old as it is with 112k miles and used for commute. I have progressive. I'm glad the insurance for my FR-S is covered in the lease, I'm afraid of what it would cost to insure for me.

Thanks for the thought. Once my wife's Sienna and our homeowners are transferred over to Liberty Mutual, the premium goes down even further. Reducing the deductibles didn't really reduce it enough for me to feel it was worth it. I feel like I'm getting a good value.

Going with $1k deductibles on my cars wouldve saved me about $20/year. Not worth it IMO.

BTW, the premiums I listed above are before my multi-car discount, and once this ticket comes off my record on June 7th Ill get the safe driving discount as well

Interesting. I'm with liberty mutual, perfect credit, home life and auto with zero claims in 14 year and it saves me a good bit. I'd shop around but I'm paying way less than anyone else has posted so dunno...maybe it's Kentucky.

Is it? I work in insurance (and can quote Progressive), I didn't see it in their systems. I don't think it's officially in there, but perhaps they've had enough inquiries about it that they've instructed their agents on how to quote it.
