Would it be beneficial for the inside of the horn to be polished smooth, or is it not a big deal? Or do the slight ridges perform some function that I am unaware of?

Likewise. This was designed to benefit FI more so we are very curious to see how NA will react.
It is not a big deal. That is just how this machinist decided to finish the bell horns. The ridges are very small and more aesthetic than actual ridges (probably 10 thou max between peak and valley). |

Make the manifold slighty higher and add a throttle body to each veolcity stack so you can have debris-less ITB's ;D

I don't want to hijack your thread, but your aluminum exhaust has piqued my curiosity - can you tell us a little about it and post some pictures? If not here, then maybe on another thread?

Of course it's milled. It's still a funky toolpath. Maybe they had difficulty getting a conventional path to work and this was the best way they could minimize tooling marks? I'd argue that's what post processing is for. Of course customers would rather see a sexy milled part than something which has been finished by sanding. I'm more of a form follows function kinda guy. Are you going to finish these prototypes out to a smooth interior surface? |
