Yeah, that's what I was hoping for as well. Now I'm unsure of buying this kit, or just making my own like the OP of this thread did. I don't necessarily like the idea of using the LED ring as a turn signal.

Yes, we just thought this kit offered a lot more for the money, because the tail light looks awesome as a turn signal.

We'll be releasing another module to easily switch the turn signal into a switchback with backup functionality, within the next month.

You could actually install both, use a red/white switchback, and have an awesome setup all around.

Hey Fuzzy, where did you get your 7443 socket that works with our taillights? Or did you have to modify the taillights to fit the plug? I bought a everything you listed and went test fit the 7443 in to the taillights yesterday and it's waaaay off.

Just want to make sure I'm not doing something stupid if there's an easy way.

Ok, so an update to anyone thinking of following this thread instead of buying the Diode Dynamics kit:

I bought the VLED's v3 units, which are admittedly very expensive, but they're RIDICULOUS! I never thought the reverse lights on these cars were sub-par, but after seeing the light output tonight and how bonkers everything is, holy shit!


I did a couple things differently than the O.P.

First off, I did order the 7443 bulbs, but instead of cutting off the factory 7440 plug I just de-pinned the BLUE wire from the v3 plug, and plugged the 7443 male plug in to the factory 7443 socket. It works that way, but I had to turn my hazards on and check orientation before I buttoned everything up.

I took the factory reverse wiring and ran the green lead to the driver side, and another wire towards passenger, to the BLUE wire which lights up the white light.

In all, this mod is amaze-balls. Easily one of the favorite things I've done to the car.

I'll hopefully capture a video tomorrow of how I have everything laid out and make things a bit easier to understand.

I think I'll wait to see what the switchback kit looks like before I decide, but like some of the others said I'm not real keen on making the brake lights into turn sugnals.

So no eta on the turn signal/ switchback for back up lights module, or it doesn't even exist yet and the mention of it being a month away a couple of months back was just a teaser?
