I tapped the ACC power, but you can replace the power pinout on the harness, just look up the correct pin to replace. Ground it anywhere.

I just finished my install and it was super easy. Thanks for the write up. Everything is plug and play except the power, that needs to be tapped.

I have been using the below linked cam for over a year and it works perfectly. Same install location which is in the key hole for the trunk. This requires the harness from svxdc to connect to the factory radio and a relay for power since its a 12vdc cam. Total cost is under $30-$40 IIRC.

The below cam is $15, I found them being sold for $2 shipped at one point and bought about 5 of them just in case one went bad on me. If you search around you can probably find them cheaper.

This is the route I went. Haven't installed it yet, but it's plug & play out of the box. http://www.emeraldintegrations.com/c...ra-system.html

The factories making these cameras are constantly changing the guts. So I always recommend that you test your camera powered from 6 Volts to see if it will work, since many do -- even when the vendor's specs say "12 V".

Use batteries or a 6V AC adapter and connect to a TV or monitor. Then compare the picture when powered from 12V, to make sure it's not getting dimmer or noisier when powered from 6V. Some cameras do need just a little more to work properly (7 or 9V).

For a camera that works from 6V, its easier to power it from the HU's 6V camera power pin.

Also, before you start drilling holes, cutting/splicing wires, etc., test-fit the camera in your car connected to your HU. You want to make sure that where you plan to mount the camera will result in an image that is right side up and angled such that it provides the view you need (not looking up or down too far).

See my Subaru/Toyota rear camera info page for details and additional tips.

I'd be interested to see good pictures of their harness. I'm curious where they're getting power for the camera.

The harness they're currently showing on that page can't be the actual one for BRZ. The harness shown (link) has 10-pin connectors, and nothing that connects to a camera. The BRZ HU's camera sockets have 16 and 4 pins. Their harness looks like something for other Toyota models. And the picture at the bottom of the page just shows the camera and its long video cable. No car-specific harness.

I have a BRZ that has a trunk release touch pad in the center. Not sure I saw a recess on the opposite side of the keyhole. When the camera is mounted on the side is the picture offset?

The "recess" is a very very hard to see square on the opposite side from the keyhole. It's only barely visible.

Yeah I found it, so if the camera is mounted off center is the display on the screen off? Or does it somehow compensate for its position

When you remove the plastic panel, you'll be able to see the indent when you hold it up to the light. Yes, it's slightly offset, but it's not simmering that will make a difference. Also, the lines are so you can line up your car straight and know how close you are to the rear. They're useless as guides for the width of your car.
