Ok so i have the camera mounted and the wires ran all the way to the head unit. now i'm fairly confused. I think i understood what i've read so far but i'm not sure. do i have the below correct? right now i have the black wire grounded to the ground point on the passenger side behind the head unit. that doesn't seem right though because it ends up being so short that i can't plug it into the head unit. i assume that the svxdc 16 pin replaces the factory one. so do i just leave that unplugged? or do i splice the ground into that instead? I'm sure these are probably dumb questions, but i've spent the last couple hours searching threads trying to understand and obviously i still don't. thanks for any help.

The black wire on my harness already is a ground. You don't need to connect it to anything. It's available to supply ground to a camera or relay.

The factory harness with 16-pin plug (and only one wire) has your car's parking brake signal. Since you ordered the "bypass" version of my harness, you'll plug my camera harness into the rear of the HU, and you'll no longer need the factory harness -- just tape or tie that back in the HU cavity, to prevent rattling.

For more info, please see my installation instructions (that link is also listed on the product page for the camera harness).

ADDED: Also, since you're powering the Rydeen from my harness, make sure you insulate the Rydeen's other red wire (near the camera). Do not use that wire for any purpose (since it will now be "live" with the 6V power coming from your OEM HU).

After just one winter the black finish is corroded all to hell on the body of my Rydeen. I would have been better off saving money and getting a cheap ebay camera.

FWIW, I didn't know the pinout of the stock wiring, which is the only reason I spliced the power from the other connector. The kit does come with a single black wire w/ pin to be inserted into the correct hole int he factory harness for use as power.
+1
Plug and play come everything you need. Easy installation

SVXdc thanks for the help, i got everything fully working yesterday. Looks like i do need to do some calibration of the lines however. the jack stands are the width of the car and about 4 feet back. drivers side looks to be pretty much on, the passenger is off. time for more forum searching on how to get to the right menu.

There was some recent discussion about counterfeit Rydeen cameras from eBay...
Rydeen ZH07-150B Not working on 6V
Any chance that yours is actually a fake? A real Rydeen will have a sticker with Rydeen's logo and a serial number on the camera, come packaged in a box with full color graphics on every side, and have matching serial numbers on the outside of the box.

My installation instructions page for Subarus includes that.
