Is there much sound difference between a catted vs a catless resonated front pipe? I'm assuming that the catted will be much quieter. Thoughts, experiences, advice is appreciated!

The cat does muffle sound, but will also depend on the cat. High flow cats you typically see on performance exhausts aren't as large/dense as the stock cats, therefore dampen less sound than stock.

Tomei 80, LOUD AS FUCK without the silencer, REALLY LOUD with the silencer. Both videos are without the silencer. Car has catless EL header, catless front pipe, Tomei 80 catback.

I've done some research and read through this whole thread and still don't have a clue on what exhaust to choose.

What's the loudest I can get but still be able to hear myself speak?

MXP Exhaust:
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYWGgXoVHd8"]DSPORT #122 FR-S/BRZ Exhaust Showcase MXP Cat-back Exhaust - YouTube[/ame]

they measured it at 102 db at the loudest when revving it, compared to the stock 88 db. I currently have it on my car at at freeway speeds (80 MPH) it's quiet enough that I can barely hear it over road noise and wind noise. I can barely hear it at idle with my windows down as well. with my windows up, I can't hear it over the engine idle. It's an extremely deep sound with no rasp at all. I love it.

+14db? Wasn't +10db like perceived twice louder? Though of course or reasonable cruising rpms are not 102db of course

I'm not sure, but all I know is that the MXP idle is +11 db compared to stock (58 db and 69 db), and I can barely hear the MXP at idle with my windows down. with my windows up, I can't hear it at all. so +11 db apparently isn't much.

edit: here's a db chart

Q300 is pretty quiet. Just a slight rumble over stock.

IMO it's the best option to be paired with a UEL catless header. Not obnoxiously loud. But sounds powerful.

How does the HKS Hi-Power SpecL Lightweight compare in terms of loudness to the exhaust systems listed on the first page?
