Got the apexi filter installed...very happy, the difference is very noticeable and the car picks up revs smoother and the throttle response has much improved

Was your old filter filled with mud? Perrin did dynos of the stock filter compared to no filter and saw no difference with the stock airbox

Do you have said dyno results, a post, or a source for that information? Awhile ago, FT86SpeedFactory ran tests with three different panel filter options, which all showed (minimal) gains across the board - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13245

I wonder why Perrin even bothers offering their/his filter for this car? I don't doubt R3NIK either way, just makes you wonder about the business ethics involved whether it is or isn't a performance enhancing mod.

BRZ Intake Design and Proving… Part 1

"The above dyno runs were just a small amount of the things we tested. The first being no filter in the stock air box. We did this along with removing all the resonators, from the intake and the results were no gains in HP. There was nothing gained at all by removing these things other than the change to the intake sound. That tells us that the stock HP and the stock intake are a good match."
