The series.blue is $30k and all it has is the body kit and some custom upholstery. The tS would be AT LEAST $35k.

The drop in value of the Yen would make it worthwhile for them to sell it here at that price, when it first came out it would be nowhere near that more like $40k at the minimum.

What I expect is they will have a base price of $33-35k, and you add options like the Recaro seats ($2000-3000 optipon) or the spoiler ($1500 option) something along those lines. Thats the way they were sold in Japan, there are some without the seats or spoiler.

If I had decided, I wouldn't have started a thread...

I'm still seriously 50/50 on this.

I think you're looking at spending about 18k out of pocket, even with trade in. To me, I'd rather have a highly personalized, unique, and thoroughly badass custom BRZ than some off-the-shelf cash grab model. Not to mention you can sell the stock parts you replace to get even more out of your money.

Then again, you still wouldn't have the "special edition" car. Just a matter of figuring out what's really important to you and how much you're willing to invest to get it.

Exactly. All the really special BRZ/FRS/86s are modded original 2013 models that people got either right away or are getting now at a discount. The quality of parts you can get in the aftermarket for the price is just way higher. Screw the tS wheels, suspension, etc.... buy a set of badass 18" Volks or Wedssports & some wide sticky tires to go with them, and some really good coilovers (I vote for MCA Suspesnion Red Series), and put the rest of the money into reliability and power upgrades... BOOM, easy tS killer, while looking better and being more unique.

Resale value is really the only downside to modding. So...... do you want to mod or do you want to play it safe and try to retain resale value? That's the question to ask about all tuner cars.

well you're always arguing for it, to purchase the tS, just buy it dude, if you can afford it. spending money on cars is never a "smart decision," just do what makes you happy.

I'm going to argue both ways for it, but its pretty obvious so far most people are for modding which is pretty interesting actually.

I started a thread on another forum (NASIOC) when I was looking to buy this current car, and it wound up with almost 7,000 replies and 200,000 views so don't expect me to make a decision that quickly LOL

(And I don't ignore anyones opinions, Input on this kind of subject is always good for everyone)

I think I would continue to mod my car as I saw fit until official confirmation that the tS was coming here. It might never come here as anything more than parts in a catalog. Once it was confirmed that the actual vehicle was coming, I'd hold off on mods until I could test the new car.

yeah on one of the articles or videos, they said that even if the tS came over, we wouldn't get all the mods like the larger rear axles and it would be rebadged as something other than tS. eta 12-18 months, then the new cycle refresh by 2019-2020 model year.

On a side note, it will be interesting to see which company brings a "performance" twin to the states first... Subaru or Toyota

The 14R is for sale now in Japan:

http://gazoo.com/news/article/st3/Pa...ES_244162.aspx

About the same price as a tS but a bit more extreme. Either car, the tS or the 14R could be sold in the states for $35,000 and they would make more money on them than they would in Japan.

It's really not interesting at all. This is a tuner car. Tuner cars get modded because they are good platforms. Anyone who has been around tuner cars for any length of time will always tell you you're going to get way more for your money choosing and installing the mods yourself if performance is what you're after.
