I actually used what I learned from drifting in autocross, mainly when they'd setup a 180 degree cone. Instead of coming in and hugging the cone to turn around, I'd just come in slightly too hot, brake hard to throw the weight forward, and turn. Zaboosh! Easily controlled slide around a cone. Unfortunately my emergency brake has never locked my rear, so I've never really been able to use it to initiate a slide. |

Try ice racing... less to damage your car with when you slide out of control.

But, drifting really isn't racing. A sport with judges that pick the winner, just isn't racing. It is more about ability, technique and control. It is like figure skating or diving in that sense (no insult to drifting intended). |

Less to damage the car? Who said I'm drifting in the street? It's always been in the track, so not even once I have damaged my friend's Silvia.

/shrug, an wide open parking lot pretty much does the same thing. I'd say drift on ice/rain to do less damage to your actual drivetrain. It could have been faster to just grip all the way, but this wasn't show drifting. It was just a speed drift. Minor oversteer to whip around the cone. For those who use empty parking lots (like those used for autocrosses), light poles and curbs are much more common in a parking lot than on a frozen lake. That's all it meant. |

Tell you the truth, I have never done auto-x. All my runs has been track runs. Only closest one that you can count auto-x is Snow-x... but still it was in the track.

Please, please, please dont call it a Celica... horrible idea. Most people dont think of the older Celica's rather the newer ones. I would be embarrassed to say "I have a Celica", even if it is a good car. Crossing my fingers on FT-86 or Sprinter!
