Doing it yourself with your own carefully selected parts will ALWAYS provide a much more rewarding experience. OEMs are very conservative. You can do much better for the money spent.

this was a pretty cool description of the way it drives
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...by-sti-driven/ the japan spec one had brembos, recaros, whole different suspension setup, 18 in wheels for what seemed like a decent price. i think price point was somewhere around 36,000 but dont quote me. but ill trade my BRZ in the SECOND i see a targa top BRZ or FRS

I think my BRZ is going to be better than that one anyway by the time I'm done with it. I can't wrap my mind around buying a brand new car, taking that huge depreciation hit, and then doing it again. Just imagine what you could do to your car with that massive amount of money you're talking about wasting. Plus, if you pick your own mods you get to personalize the car exactly how you like it. For example, I'd go with a 5 axis over that ugly wing. I don't like the interior either.

The tS has a lot of things I want to do to my car... More supportive seats, upgrading ALL the suspension bushings, bilstein shocks which I would probably be buying this year, etc. Looking at the costs for a lot of the tS goodies you can see why it would be a value even if it cost almost $40k: Recaro Sportster seats - $1500 each ($3000) Brembo Brakes - ~$2000 Bilstein shocks - $1000 18" STI wheels - $1500 STI carbon wing - $2000 Upgraded tS axles - $1000 each LMAO! ($2000) Plus all the bushings and other small changes... ($???) Its a pretty good deal. |

I guess it's a matter of whether or not you like the mods the TS comes with. I personally don't care if it's a 2 thousand dollar wing because I think it's ugly. If those are all things that you want anyway, then yeah sure, probably a good deal. |

It's like buying a Cayman GTS vs a Cayman S with X options. Financially, it's only really worth it if you really wanted all those things and were planning on doing those mods in the first place. These cars don't depreciate quickly, but as far as being a collectible, you're talking maybe 40 years down the road before they begin to appreciate. First gen Z's are only now beginning to go up in price. If you're thinking that far ahead, spend the extra on the tS. Look at 911 special editions vs. base 911 prices; not saying these cars will ever get that expensive, but it's an indicator of what the better long term investment is.

Honestly there isn't much point in seriously having this discussion if we don't know what the tS will cost over here in the US.

i was assuming he was comparing prices of buying a tS version to buying a limited or premium and adding all the parts whats your money worth to you? more power or better handling and some flash this just starts another arguement of "WELL YOU COULD BUY ______ FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY" but what if i want a $50,000 BRZ?!?!?! what can they do for me with that price tag?!?! lol
