I am so used to a plate that cars without one look funny to me. I just dress them up with a nice frame and cover and call it a mod.

I went one step further since mine was a first delivery (First 86). I made the dealer add it to the preorder agreement and state that if it was installed they would replace the front bumper. I also made them remove the dealer stickers they had placed on the car. I offered to let them leave them for a $2,000 lifetime advertising fee.

I'm the opposite, having never lived in a place that requires them. I have had cars with them mounted, so I usually add some type of goofy tag rather than leaving it empty though. I think it looks worse empty than with something on it.

Nah, at least OP actually owned a Mustang and FRS! Pretty sure that SBF never even sat in one of either much less owned them.

Yeah man, its a brilliant car stock. My last car was much faster than my FRS, but almost a year into FRS ownership, I wouldn't change a thing. I find it's fast enough to get me into PLENTY of trouble.. haha.
Keeping it under 4k for the first thousand miles (as per the manual) was hard, but it sounded oh so sweet to hit redline when the time came.

Welcome to the club OP, standby for endless "not enough power", "automatics suck", "when-will-they-give-the-twins-more-whp" and SquadRogue threads.

I kid, I kid, these boards are informative and very entertaining at times. You seem to have the right frame of mind for an FR-S, enjoy!

I bought one of the very first Lancers brought into Canada back in 03. I bargained free lifetime paint chip and PDR into the deal in exchange for letting them put one small dealer sticker on the back. I must of had 100 chips and dings fixed for free just because of that little sticker.

That would have been a great option on the FR-S, should have thought of it.

Well they did have a vested interest in it looking as good as possible for as long as possible since it was very rare at that point. The yellow paint on the black plastic bumper would show chips like mad.
They even repainted the whole bumper after I got a little close with a high powered pressure washer and pealed some paint off (wasn't a paint issue more of a I was a moron issue).
I tried to get the same deal with the FRS but they would not go for it since they don't do stickers just license plate frames and I would not agree to that.
