If you were referring to my "nothing I couldn't do myself" comment, I wasn't talking about cloning anyway. I was talking about the fact that I'd rather pick out my own mods and personalize the car myself than pay extra for someone else to do it. I don't particularly like the wing or interior.

Oh there is nothing wrong with customization.
I'd be asking for a tree branch and rope if I said all you guys are idiots for modifying your cars.

For that price, I could do all that and throw in a turbo and probably still come out on top. I bought mine used 15k miles for 22, so that would give me 14k to work with

I guess if you like buying new, it's only 6 or 8k more, but that still seems high for none-FI. I just don't think it's worth it, but to each their own, some people would die before they bought a used car.

With honda getting their act back together, it's gonna put some pressure on toyobaru to bump the power up. It looks like the new civics and civic si's will be powered by a 1.5L turbo motor. Honda is making their civic,"cool" again. They will no doubt pull some sales from the twins because they are going to offer a "cool" looking car like the twins, but with the grunt.

Nope I wasn't. I am all in favour of people picking out their own mods and making their own car. Just a general reference to people that like to try to make something look like something it isn't just to claim it is. Of course some mods may end up looking like a factory model but as long as you aren't slapping fake badges on it that is a whole different ball game.

NO WAI!

They better be ready to hang with the big boys. I mean that Cruz has a 1.8l TURBO Engine. Also the Chevy Sonic has the same engine as the Cruz!

OH NOES!

You people need to quit equating Turbo and fast cars in this day and age.

Like me! I don't want used and don't want to mod myself but do like the parts so to be able to buy a new car with some extra goodies is ideal for me. I have other things to do with my time and self modding is no longer a priority for me.
At the same time if you asked for help to slam, turbo, wing and sticker your car I would be there in minutes to give a hand.

Yes! Go take a turbo Dart for a spin and see what you think. The stock Twins are a powerhouse in comparison.

I am loving my BRZ, but I find this to just not be attractive at all. If It was between this or the limited, I'd still pick the limited. Between this and everything else? I think the 370Z is the better performance value, at 3000 cheaper msrp with all performance options, and 6k cheaper at the base model, and the pony car trio is also cheaper in v8 trim. I just don't see it selling but to the tiniest of niches since joe public usually just looks at spec sheet stats. But that's ok, I guess.

Joe public doesn't even look at stat sheets. They look at horsepower & price and ignore everything else, including engine placement, weight balance, suspension design, and weight.

That's what I meant by stat sheets.

I will take that a step further! They don't even look at HP they look at cup holders, paint colour and bright shiny dials and gadgets.

Yep! But Joe Public non car guy is probably 80 or 90% of the buyers. We are the weird, car nerd, minority no matter how many of us we think there are.
