Definitely the inlet tube and deletion of the sound tube. Just installing the CAI portion just relocates the filter, but won't have a big effect on sound.

So when I get the inlet tube that will do the trick? Is that what replaced the sound tube? How do you delete it

Yes sir. I have the Perrin CAI and inlet tube and it definitely has the grumble you're thinking about. I just remember ripping all that shit out when I installed it.. it came with a plug if I remember correctly.

My Perrin CAI didn't come with a plug at all? Bad?

The inlet tube has the plug to block off the sound generator when you remove it.

You should be able to find the Perrin inlet tube for pretty cheap in the For Sale section. Seems like someone is always selling one. You'll get the plug with it and it sounds much better once the sound generator is removed.

You can always remove it and keep the stock inlet tube and just find some plugs at Home Depot or something too since the CAI doesn't come with one.

So frustrating. I called Perrin and spoke to Chris the tech, and he said that it "should" be making the sound. After about 45 minutes of asking him questions as to how I might have messed up, he didn't give me one straight answer to resolving my situation.. Just simply repeated that his car has it and makes the "growl".....

No it's sold seperate. I purchased the CAI by itself cause I didn't know about the inlet tube. Nor did I think it was needed for the sound to be produced. (As it's advertised).

Ok I gotcha now. I didn't know why they advertise the sound with just the CAI... ? I'd be pretty pissed if I was you. I really love Perrin products though and really didn't buy it for the grumble. Maybe they will give you a deal on the inlet tube..?

I bout it for both. Performance and sound. I like to have one... And the other but I just didn't realize that the inlet tube made the beautiful sound.

You should just remove your sound generator and plug the hole on the stock inlet tube and you will probably get the same grumble as having the inlet tube.
