I've seen consistently similar using stock airbox, Perrin inlet tube, K&n filter. During normal driving IATs are 5-10 degrees F above ambient. But stopped in traffic I have seen IATs as high as 40 degrees above ambient.

If anybody is getting equal IATs to ambient, please elaborate.

but in traffic or standstill these cars' IATs shoot up due to the buttoned-up sealed engine bay.. even my Grimmspeed intake shoots past 100-120+F in traffic on a 20C day here in washington ... but when going, temps can fall to 40-60Fahrenheit
Stainless steelpiping from filter to tb, as well as the headers and full exhaust (although I think the last two have nothingto do with it )

Right now the ambient air is 34C and the highest my IAT got (includin traffic conditions was 63C!

Your local humidity will also play a role. Most air will absorb more energy than dry.

I would accept those values as probably accurate.

Contrary to the general urban legends, under normal driving conditions, heat gains to intake airflow are pretty minimal, and probably no real cause for concern.

In heavy traffic, intake temps never exceed ambient by more than 3-5F.

I suggest you actually do some measurement before you make a lot of assumptions.
lol

you are cute.

These cars IATs are not equal to Ambient and as other have chimed in, will vary and in general be above ambient... even with well designed intakes.

I've retuned, maf scaled, load comp and IAT comp tuned my car via D00C rom for grimmspeed intake and OFH, and have hundreds of logs to back up my claims that IAT does NOT equal ambient temp on this platform. Your MR2 turbo is NOT this system. Sorry bro, come again with YOUR assumptions

Sooo what have you done again?

okay. tried listening to her again. besides the rumble, I can hear the engine turning (belts and all) and a kind of whinning sound after a while. From my experience with my celica this is not normal. however, is this normal for a boxer with uel stainless headers? (considering that they use thinner gauge metal than staock and have no heat shield)

Guess im kinda picky but so far, no complains except for the unusually bright/high pitch sound coming from the engine

If I have to repost in another subforum, please tell me
