I am assuming the three episodes "lost" will be aired at some point once this blows over. But as one of the showrunners (producers) said, this has been a bad year publicity-wise for TG. Racist epithets said by JC (one heard during the Burma special, but as I am not english, I likely missed it), the "Agentina Incident," and now this.

That said, I think this is typical BBC/English over-reacting and over-sensitivity. And now the fans are being punished for all of this. Granted, I would love to know the reason that Clarkson thought it would be a good idea to take a swing at a producer when it was over a simple catering mishap (I mean, I get upset when I miss a meal, but really). Clarkson and TG will be back, with their usual awkward side-stepping and joking about controversial things they have done in the past (which has happened before and will happen again).

OK, but I get to be the recurring guest in the new "American in an Extravagantly Priced Car" segment.

We saw James May in the Stig getup before, remember? When they competed against German TG.

I don't think they finished filming, I was under the impression that they did the studio bits a few days before episode airing so presumably the one supposed to air this weekend probably didn't finish editing and the next two still had the interludes, news, and star in a reasonably priced car segment left to shoot. Could be wrong though.

Maybe they'll eventually release it but BBC News is saying they won't...

Interesting thing is that we honestly have no idea what happened, and neither does the BBC, hence the investigation. Must feel miserable for the bloke who is on the receiving end of whatever happened, hundreds of thousands of people telling him to 'suck it up', his physical and psychological well being dismissed in favor of a crazy old man who plays the automotive equivalent of a cable news pundit.

I love the idea of Atkinson slipping in (although he may be too intelligent) but that would only work if Hammond and May stuck around which I find unfathomable, if Clarkson goes so will the core of the show, most notably Andy Wilman as they've known each other for decades and built this show together.

You make a good point, but I am willing to bet that there are segments that are shot and ready to go (the out-of-studio bits). They will eventually make it to screen one way or another.

Secondly, I saw a report yesterday that the fallout from this (if they decide to show Clarkson the door) would be at a huge cost for the BBC. Not only do they still have to pay all three presenters their normal salaries for episodes not aired, but there are other networks over there that would love to poach Clarkson, controversy or not. Overall, its been estimated that letting Clarkson go could cost the BBC tens of millions of dollars, not to mention lost revenue from them having to shut down Top Gear.
