I think it would be tough to program into a manual because it has no way of predetermining if you're shifting up or down when the clutch is pressed in...it also has no idea how long it will take you to select your gear and let the clutch out so I think it'll be damn near impossible to put it into an OFT (or any other, for that matter) tune for the 6MT.

It's in the EcuTek tune, see below from approx. 2:25 and again from 3:00

Looks like it triggers when brake is pressed and the clutch is pressed too.

I've been wondering the same thing... seems like an awesome feature.

I'm a little torn on whether I would want it all the time, however. I do really enjoy heel/toeing and rev-matching manually because it's so damn gratifying to get it just right and have that perfectly smooth downshift. BUT, it would be a nice feature when I'm just running around town. I doubt it is something that could be turned on/off whenever you would like to use it though.

To summarize, it would definitely modernize the driving experience and be more user-friendly for those of us that daily our 86, but one of the best parts of this vehicle is the pure, technologically-unmolested sports-car driving experience that reminds you of the good ole days before paddle shifters and launch control.

You can have it active on any particular mapswitch mode, so you don't have to have it active all the time. By default it also doesn't work under 3k and lower than 30mph, but you can change that if you want.

Shiv stated he is really hesitant to do auto rev-matching because he doesn't want to take away control of the throttle from the user, which I can understand from his point of view.

When is it safe to unplug the oft? Meaning if I was using it for real-time data/data-logging for a few miles and got what I needed and want to unplug it. Is it okay to just unplug with car running/driving as long as it's in the home page and Not writing/reading the ecu?

Any input is greatly appreciated 👍

As long as you aren't doing a read/write, it is safe to unplug.

Before the recent update, I've shut the car off before saving the data log a few times with no issues as well (the log didn't save but nothing was messed up in the process).

correct do not unpluig during read\write of a rom.

if you do unplug before saving log or while oft saving log it will be lost,

however plugging in or unplugging and obd port devices especially if its interrogating ecu for logging data can cause a hickup on the CAN bus and maywill trigger U0155 cel code.

the oft guys usually disable this cel code in oft roms to stop the cel being tripped if its not disabled it can cause limp home mode requiring a cel code clear or ecu reset by battery terminla removal.

Probably wont happen on oft roms as its usually disabled but if you were logging your mates car that was not tuned and unplugg oft while engine on you might give them a fright when it goes limp home mode and rpm limited to 4000 and cel code. no damage is done jist reset cel with oft and you all good.

Ok will add that.
That was just resetting with oft/torque app and not battery removal ?
