It would be the same answer as "Would paint chips be covered if you dropped a hammer on your car?"

That's why I ended up not getting it when I first got the car. To me it would have needed to extend all the way up the hood and at least to the front of the doors, and it was just too expensive for the little protection I felt it provided. I just wrote it off as that money going to a future repaint or wrap.

Yeah, I determined it is cheaper to repaint the bumper than to clear bra it correctly. I just touch up chips carefully as they come up. There are some good guides out there--you want to just put a dot of paint directly on the chip.

I got mine from automotivetouchup.com. I like the applicators they sell, but a lot of people swear by toothpicks. Just avoid getting the drop of paint anywhere but on the chip.

I just got mine from the dealer so I could be sure of the colour (Lava).
Some good Youtube videos. Just look up paint touch up.
It really gets pretty easy when you do it so often.

I have a 10 year old Audi that was pretty good, and rust free except for a couple of dings from rocks coming off the windshield and striking the lip of the roof (no mouldings around the window). I eventually had a shop take out the front window and do the rust repair/repaint because it's so integral to the car - a rust hole there would guarantee water in the car and roof.

So I went nuts on the FR-S. Clear bra for the bumper, first 18" of hood, A-pillars (looked really vulnerable), the leading 12" of the roof, and the sill for the trunk. Half of the price was for the bumper which being plastic would even rust anyway.

I have 1 noticeable scrape on my Opti-guard treated paint in 40,000 kilometres. In that time I have repaired 3 windshield cracks. The 4th went unnoticed until I got in and found a crack in an inverted U meaning a windshield replacement will be needed. So in my case at least I believe the bra has probably saved me from numerous rock damage events. YMMV.

I have drove through Toronto so can appreciate that you probably never have to worry about high speed projectiles! Rocks and debris can only do so much damage when flung up at 20kph!

I'm against traffic on 427/407 to work and back. Slowest barring accidents etc. is around 70. 130 usually on the 407 with dump trucks bouncing along releasing rocks. Like I said, 4 chips including one that transformed into a windshield ending crack.

I've had the same I-40 commute with other cars over the past 15 years and have never, ever had a car look this bad. Of course, I've never had a car that sits this low to the ground either.

In retrospect, I wish I would have gone for a clear bra....as it stands, I will probably get the front bumper/fender/hood repainted in another year and then have clear bra put on.

I spend at least 14 hours a week on the highway so all my cars have taken a beating but like you said since this car is so much lower the hood and even the roof take more hits then any of my old cars did.
29k miles on my car, all but the first 30 with the clearbra, 0 chips in the paint, can't say the same about my window, overall very happy with the clearbra.

I just washed my car yesterday and in the front bumper next to the emblem there are 3 cloud spots about the size of a quarter.. I bought the car brand new and had it for around 3 months. Can someone tell me what caused this?

There's a reason they try to sell you the paint protection plan when you buy the car. You're not gonna get something like this covered under warranty, as it's not considered a manufacturing defect.

The first couple chips always hurt the most. Get a little bottle of touch-up paint from the dealer and get comfortable using it... I've touched up about 10 different spots since I got the car 20,000 miles ago.
