Ding and Paint Chips! how to fix it?
I got a small ding in my back driver side quarter panel with 2 small paint chips. Not sure how it got there but now i want to fix it, the ding isnt too bad and the chip is small but it still bothers me. Im going to get a DPR to fix the ding but for the paint should i ust use the touch up paint with a tooth pick? and if I do i have no experience with sanding or buffing. Or should i take it to a body shop for touch up paint?

Ding and Paint Chips! how to fix it?
Most Paint Chip Kits (Dr. Color Chip, LANGKA, etc) yield mixed reviews. Match the paint pretty well, but don't actually fill the chip itself. Best results would come from a body shop, where they'd re-spray the area, then sand and wet sand for a perfect finish.

The ding can be removed for about $90 from paintless ding removal it's fixing the paint that I am worried about. If I take it to a shop for a repaint do you think the repaint will be noticeable? I'd rather have a small white spot than an uneven paint

Shouldn't be noticeable on such a new car. Doubt the paints started to fade this quick.

Do you think touchup paint will blend in ok then? Or should I take it to a body shop?

Don't have your car resprayed. It's very likely that the paint won't be an exact (perfect) match and a large area could be more noticeable. Just use the tooth pick with touch-up. Just be sure not to get any overlap on the existing paint. Keep the paint inside the chip. Let the first coat dry and then add a second coat and if necessary a third. I would not get involved with wet sanding, etc.

My pearl paint got hit by a small rock from the opposite side of the road on a 110kph limit, so it was moving and hit the pissing bonnet! It left a tiny dent and 3 small scratches but apart from my dentist, who spends all day looking for imperfections on pearl teeth, nobody else has been able to find it in the sun until I point it out. |

Ding and Paint Chips! how to fix it?
Professional Body Shops, and even a few talented side guys, should be able to blend body panels if necessary.
The only paint I've ever had a time matching was Nissan's Pikes Peak White, which is a pearl with gold flake, on my Z33. Took two body shops and three attempts before it was just decent. |

Thanks
Thanks for all the replies guys! i am just going to use touch up paint, it comes in a package of 2 the clear coat and the white any tips on how to apply it? should i apply the white 3/4 of the way then fill with clear coat to make even? Also i noticed i had quite a few small rock chips on my front bumper. Im guessing there is no way to avoid this w/o getting a clear bra right?

I would fill it with the white, as you describe and finish with one coat of clear. That way it can't look like a dent still as it might if you use the clear to fill it on top of a layer of white. Did you get it from the dealer? |

Apply using a toothpick, you can easily work your way around the damaged area without accidentally using overexessive paint on the clear coat.
