so @Ultramaroon, you have the smaller slave cylinder with helper spring installed and a clutch adjustment?
omg.. here we go again.. trying to hold back that urge to play with the clutch, trying to convince myself "its good enough" but knowing I'll eventually give in. ARGH! took many painful hours to remove that spring from a RHD |

Based solely upon my self imposed rule of not jacking a tech thread we will leave it at that!

1. Slave cylinder 2. Adjustment 3. Spring removal Tight quarters up next to that tunnel? I don't envy that. I considered removing the whole pedal assembly to remove the remaining parts of that device.

Hi dudes,
I have been following this thread for a while now and have since ordered a clutch slave cyl, whiteline postive shift kit, mtec shifter springs and the mtec clutch spring. Everyone seems to love the shifter springs but I can't seem to find any info on the replacement clutch spring. From what I gather it is just a lighter spring than OEM. Perhaps its a nice medium between the OEM and having it removed all together. Has anyone else installed the mtec spring? Please note it will most likely be a few weeks before I get the parts/get around to installing them, but I will post up findings. Cheers. |

Findings:
Whiteline positive shift kit (Transmission mount insert) - Initial impressions where that It gave the clutch better feel which I was a bit surprised at. I thought that I might only feel it through the shifter, which is helped slightly as well but biggest improvements where in the clutch feel. The other thing was that it does at a little bit of NVH. Initially it seemed like too much to deal with but it seemed to settle down and you get used to it pretty quickly. Since I spend a lot of time driving, I have decided I will be swapping the whiteline insert for the TRD engine and trans mounts. Pricey in comparison but hopefully a decent improvement after seeing other people reviews of them. Mtec clutch spring - I have only just installed this today but initial impressions are just as predicted. It adds a bit of weight to the clutch pedal but no actual improvement in feel. The mtec spring is roughly half the tension of the OEM spring just pushing it on the ground. I havent actually tried the clutch with the spring removed completely. At this stage, I would only recommend the mtec spring if you are used to a heavy clutch, but having said that, you could probably achieve that removing the spring all together (and its a free mod). *NOTE: I had to do this on a RHD car. This is a complete PITA unless you remove the R/H side strut bar, clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal assembly. Which is not as difficult as it sounds. Much easier than trying to do insitu. Will hopefully install the slave cyl soon... |
