final gear swap on AT

Where do you guys go to have this done? Any reputable transmission shop? Anyone happen to know of a trustworthy place in the Nashville area?

I'm going to buy the new 4.88 gears from weir performance, and I'm thinking of dropping the pumpkin myself and bringing it in to whatever shop I go to to save on labor. I don't care if I'm out a car for a week or two.

What would be a ballpark on a reasonable price to watch for?

Thanks guys!

Make sure they have Toyota shims. They are needed for proper adjustment of the gear lash and depth of engagement. Not every shop has the correct shims to do the job. I have the 4.88 Weir gears in my A/T, and I'm beginning to think they are a little too much. I want to try the 4.55 gears now.

I have a 5.1 and love it. Should be one of the first mods for an Auto.

You will be able to accelerate in 5th&6th gear making them usable.
