Sunday at 1. Meet at cascade station. Or the empty lot across the street. Have a circle jerk then drive. German town road is a great road. But to busy during the day.

First person to post a thread titled "Going away drive for BRZPDX's car Sunday at 1pm" can pick the meet spot and the destination spot!
If it wasn't the middle of winter I'd be totally up for Larch Mt., and if that's where people want to go I'm still up for it since I have winter tires on my BRZ at the moment. Otherwise my comment of meeting at Cascade Station and driving to the Rock Creek Tavern in Hillsboro stands and I'll throw it up tomorrow unless someone posts something else.

Kohei, touching farewell post. I wish you and your lovely lady all the best as you begin a new chapter in your life.

Your car was impressive. The first time I saw it I wondered how you squeezed a Continental TSIO-550 in there.

I won't be able to join the group Sunday b/c I don't have a vape pen. Actually am scheduled for volunteer duty at the Humane Society.

Larch Mtn. road is closed. They always close the gate at the 10 mile marker in early Nov. due to snow.

Have fun Sunday, post pics.

Thanks, now coming back after test driving 2 STI hatches, a S3 audi and a 2007 RS4, the connected feeling of the BRZ/FR-S is unmatched. I'm assuming the M3, M4 is more out of touch as well (bigger, heavier). I don't think I'm going to even give the Golf R a chance until the MT comes out.

I found a 41k mile RS4 2007 that I am heavily leaning towards. I know the elctronics and the suspension is the weak link (carbon build up is more of a maintenance), the Getrag 6mt and the V8 seems bulletproof. I just hope the damn sensors start dying. Other than that, it felt like a great cruiser/nimble enough car for 4 doors, and a big ass trunk.

dat over fender tho..

His might be the exception, but one of my coworkers has one and it seems to be in the shop about half a dozen times per year.

CELs, some misfiring (from carbon buildup), and the occasional electrical gremlin from what I understood.

Then again, he is not very mechanically inclined, so he is unable to explain automotive issues with proper granularity. If it makes any difference, he still loves the car.

carbon buildup is a known thing, and its part of maintenance. not a "if" thing.

Electronics is the biggest weak point on ALL German cars, so what my brother told me (had a C32 AMG) was to be proactive on changing sensors BEFORE they go bad. I did some good research on various forums, but not much issues were noted with electronics other than comfort gadgets (windows/interior lights etc). Shocks leaking and carbon build up was the 2 most common things I saw. I'm assuming it is as popular as the "crickets", mis aligned bumpers and trunk ticking noise for our 86's.

Audi's understeer pretty badly even with aftermarket suspension, so I wouldn't bother ever tracking it since your BRZ was x10 better at handling and you'd probably be pissed. Drag race yes, anything else race oriented will be not fun for you. Luxury commuter car with lots of power that looks like every other Audi (stealth) is basically what your getting. Everything is much more expensive to fix on Audi's and you will need to do more maintenance on it than the BRZ, plus a lot of it you won't be able to do yourself. You probably already know all this and have thought about it so I'm probably preaching to the choir.

My turbo BRZ wasn't necessarily cheap to up keep either. 18k on aftermarket parts spread out in 2 1/2 years should be about the same to maintain an RS4, if not cheaper. 255/35/18 is the same size as my BRZ as well.

Handling wise, I don't know what other 4dr sedans get any closer feel to the twins than the B7 RS4. it felt the most raw, and the only 6mt variant would be a M3, which is RWD.

Worst case scenario, I can dump it when the Mk 7 golf R 6mt comes out this fall. 40k mile RS4 is a easier sell than a modified BRZ.
