The 30 dollar ones I got at wally world work fine. The bumper is literally 1/10 of a millimeter from rubbing when I go up! They don't hit going down as long as you are SLOW. A 2x4 wouldn't be a bad idea, but isn't needed if being careful.

Here in Toronto (Canada) the city will come pick up used motor oil for free, you just have to fill in an online form. Very convenient.
couldn't get the stupid drain plug off for my first change since it was way overtorqued so that already turned me off the first time. The car's so low to the ground and it's a tight squeeze to get down there. I was planning on using the fumoto valve, but don't feel like dealing with spilling any oil on the ground or myself while trying to catch it with the pan. Also not too sure on what to do with the used oil here.

I brought to a 5-star mechanic who got the plug off for me and let me watch them change the oil with the oil i brought in. Labor was 12 bucks, so I thought that's worth staying clean for this one

Fair enough, it's not a real money saver to be sure (changing your own oil).

usually members like to work on cars. that's why they do their own oil change + nobody touches my car. except me. unless it's bigger work that requires professional

These appear to be what I've got.
^ this.. I've got standard pep-boys/autozone ramps and they fit just fine but my car is factory height. If you go lower you want to make something to lengthen a standard ramp or .. *cough* race ramps if you have the depth of pocket needed to get em.

Damn.. got me seriously curious how you mastered washes and oil changes without physically touching the car. Jedi master this one is.. hmmm... lol

Jokes aside I agree though. I do all my own regular maintenance and keep very tight records and only buy oem supplies (filters/gaskets etc) Ramps work perfectly fine for all that. I have air tools and a sizable amount of experience so I can pretty much do anything at home less body work (I dont have the patience for it anyway, that's what friends are for) ... A lift would kick ass.. but my garage isnt tall enough, already cramped and the concrete isn't thick enough to mount one

I have a set of low profile Race Ramps. They work great and I love 'em. I will probably need to do the 2x4 method once I'm lowered though. I thought about selling them to go towards the purchase of a floor jack and jack stands, but I dunno. Would be nice to have access to the full underbody instead of front half or back half at a time.

Hi! I'm thinking of buying the race ramps for changing oil, and to change the exhaust. I would like to recommend me which model is what is good for our car.
Thank you very much

old school tip to keep ramps from sliding out

Back in the day when all the ramps were metal, sliding was a big problem. We used to tie a rope to the shallow end and put a few knots in it to keep the ramp from sliding when you drove on. maybe a foot or so long, just enough to drive the tire over and let it hold until you could get the weight on the ramps. Small chain would work too. Sorry I don't have pics, I think you get the idea though.

Which race ramps are you guys talking about? The regular or the low profile ones?

http://fasttoys.net/ca/Race-Ramps-Ca...0-Rally-Ramps/

or

http://fasttoys.net/ca/Race-Ramps-Ca...rak-Jax-RR-TJ/
http://fasttoys.net/ca/Race-Ramps-Ca...Stops-RR-TJ-S/

I just need it raised enough so I can fit my standard jack underneath for changing tires. Also, if I need the low profile ones, is the one with the stop better or without stop?
