Recommended Car Ramps for the BRZ/FRS?

I really liked Draco's idea and I found this by some google magic.

I like this modification of Draco's plan because I don't have to worry about the wood moving or anything. Definitely doing this.

Those ones at griotsgarage look pretty good for doing something like a quick oil change, 7" of lift and nice and compact.

Like you said, I just use them to get the jack under then lower the car on jack stands. All you really need it to get the jack under the car and they are not too expensive. Get 4 jack stands from Harbor Frieght and you are good to go for any service. Race Ramps and cradles are awesome but be prepared to spend a lot more.

The thing with the ones from Griot's is that you have to use the extensions with their ramps. I tried them with a set of the old school red metal ones and there was nowhere to connect the tab/locater hole with the ramp and the extension shot out from under the front tires. The 2x4's with the Rhino ramps works pretty well.

Dead simple. The biggest problem I had when I changed my oil last week was that the ramps kept squirting out from under the car. I'd get about half way up and they'd skate away from the car. With the boards and "locator pin" that can't happen. I'm definitely doing this.

Are you using Rhino ramps? My set have a big rubber foot at the front so they don't go anywhere.

Yeah. Those feet (at the bottom of the ramp) are pretty worthless. Maybe the rubber's just old at this point, but they even got away from me on rough, broken asphalt. It's worse on smooth concrete. Adding some 3M safety tread did help now that the plastic's worn smooth…

I've had rhino ramps for years but often I cannot drive up on them with some cars so I end up jacking the car in the air and placing it onto the ramp as I find them more stable than jack stands and I can reverse the direction for more clearance. My friend has the Race Ramps and they are MUCH better than the Rhinos but you pay for it, so if they are in your budget they are worth it.

Where'd you get them for $30? The cheapest I've seen was $45 and I ended up returning them when I found how it's too much of a hassle for self-oil changes.

What's the hassle?

Granted changing oil yourself is not a huge money saver but if you are like me and don't like other people mauling your vehicle its a pretty straightforward affair with a Fumoto quik-valve...

Here in Toronto (Canada) the city will come pick up used motor oil for free, you just have to fill in an online form. Very convenient.

I didn't have a set already so I bought the Griots ones listed in the thread and they work great. I do wish they had a bit more of a lip on the furthest edge, I was backing onto them without a spotter and almost ended up going over the back of them. In first you can just let the clutch out and the car will go up the ramps with no gas but backing onto them takes a little gas.

Rhino ramps alone will not work in a BRZ. It will hit the bumper before going all the way up. So you'll need to custom make wooden ramps (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11730)

I ended up returning my rhino ramps since it was too much of a hassle. thinking of getting a jack instead now that I have my Fumato valve installed

I changed my oil this past weekend with Rhino ramps, just put some 2 foot long 2x4 in front of them to keep the front bumper off the ramps. Easy and cheap.
