Installed the partial boost ESC over the weekend and other than the nice on-demand boost it provides I noticed another thing... There is no longer a "plastic burning" smell that would normally have occured after "spirited" driving. I had been bothered with that issue for about a year. Dealer had no clue what was causing it, and couldn't determine where in the engine bay it was coming from. Considering I removed quite a bit of plastic/rubber parts for the install, (resonator, intake tube, and sound tube) I'm guessing one of those parts must have been the culprit. Car smells great now.

Thanks buddy. Then yes probably the resonator or some random plastic crap. If it was a manual I was going to have you check something else. I'm curious what do you think of the system thus far?

Install was super easy (esp. with the vid). Came with a mini fuse soldered on the LED display wire, ended up getting a low profile one so it would sit flush in the fuze box so I could snap the fuze cover back on. Has a some issues with the pedal switch engaging randomly which a bead of hot glue seems to have fixed. The most time consuming part for me was getting the OFT software updated to flash the proper tune. Could not get that working in an OS X Fusion VM. Now I have an old toshiba laptop whose sole purpose in life is to run the OFT manager in windows. |

Yeah I had a bitch of a time with Mac OS X with parallels but I eventually got it working. On the fuse cover it actually bends a lot. I still use it without the lower profile fuses. I am curious about the issue with the engagement switch... Was it the headphone connection?

So I just finished installing. Did a few test laps and I was almost certain there was absolutely no differnce vs stock... then I went back to my hood and realized the blue wire had disconnected (looked a little burned?) and I was like eh ok. Reconnect it. Go for another test lap. HOLY SHIT lol. The difference in speed and torque is massive. My tires slipped on first gear even though I didn't launch it at all.
This is all on 91 map with 91 octane too, can't imagine e85. I am pretty satisfied . It's hard to stop smiling lol. Regarding the burn, I messed up my install and had to go back and accidently shorted a connection. That may be why but I'm not sure. For those who are installing or going to install, the hardest part for me was actually "drilling" out the rivets to remove the resonator chamber on the intake. Second would probably be aligning the ESC. The rest is a breeze. Took about 3 hours.

By saying the car is lowered I mean it has the Eibach Pro Kit. So it's not lowered that much and I never changed the suspension settings. And no the car has never been off the road. I guess I just drive a little aggressively is all.

I agree with the drilling out the rivets part, that was my least favorite part of the install as well. Glad to see you are enjoying it, it will only get better as everything breaks in

Pro-kit will drop you about 1" in the rear, that will give you about -1.5ish degrees of natural negative camber in the back. Now depending on your tire and driving style that could definitely cause some premature wear if not rotated. @WRB5titch ran the same setup a while and can probably speak better to it. |

Haha congrats man! You stuck it out on the waiting list and now reap the rewards. Its been a good long time since our demo drive. Now you got a nice long break in the rain to just destroy some open road. Super stoked for you. Watch out for O.C.'s finest. |
