Was coming back from Atlantic City (brother's bachelor party all weekend). It was about 4:00pm and literally no traffic around me. I zoned out with a lead foot and ended up going a little faster than I should have. Once I caught up to some cars, I realized my speed and slowed down. TOO LATE! Sherriff clocked me and pulled me over. "You know how fast you were going?"

113 in a 70mph.
Put me in cuffs, took me to jail, gave me a court date, and let me go.

Hired an attorney, did all I could to minimalize the already going to be bad consequences.

Charged for Reckless Driving.
60 days in jail (suspended 50). Every day in jail counts as two since it was a misdemeanor.
$1000 fine (suspended 500, court cost was $126).
60 day suspension of driving privileges in VA.
Moral of the story? Be aware of your speed and use the cruise control, especially through VA.
Not posting this to brag or some other stupid reason, but to educate you that this can happen! Use a licensed track, trust me. Jail food sucks...

Over the years I've come close but haven't had it happen yet. In NY I think it's still 40 over and your license is revoked. A few years ago in my C30 I got pulled over doing 91 and the trooper said he was actually glad I wasn't going any faster because getting the car towed and impounded and making me walk home is such a paperwork clusterf*ck he was happy not to have to deal with it. After three court appearances where he didn't show up they dropped it to a parking ticket.

Here's a question why is VA so over zealous with the speeding laws?

40+ is 11 points so it's an automatic suspension.

For that much over he deserved to be charged with reckless driving and I doubt that's the only state that would do that. Kind of scary that he was "zoned out" and didn't realize he was going that fast.

got rear ended at a light in the rain last night. guy was straight up about it being his fault so the cop didn't write him a ticket. I kinda felt bad for the guy really. I read him the riot act after it happened. after I calmed down I appoligized and told him I only had 7K on the car. he was like, "yeah, as soon as it happened I thought, oh shit that looks new.".

Not drugged, tired, or drunk, I was just on the road for the majority of the day with minimum/ no traffic an hour before I was clocked. Cruise control is now my new best friend for those long trips (which should have been before all of this happened...)

I paid for my mistake (in full), don't repeat mine! Take breaks while driving (every two-ish hours), have a good drink available, and know the speed limits (which is more of a common sense thing).

This info isn't for any one in particular, just saying 'cause it can be easily forgotten or overlooked.

I've had a V-1 for years...love it!!!! used a Blend Mount with one of their hard wires and wired it into the power mirror connector that we have up in the headliner.

But even the best detecter is only as good as you are reading it. The V-1 gives you directional info which I've found handy. Plus they have an upgrade program
so that your's doesn't get outdated.

Good to hear. I am sure it is wise investment, although I haven't been pulled over in 10+ years (knock on wood). I dont have a powered rearview mirror, so I would probably aim to place it down under the radio/in front of gearbox, powered through the 12v in the glove box.

All twins have the power mirror connectors behind the roof liner, so you can tap it even if you don't have a powered rearview mirror. If you pull down the dome light and feel around for it towards the passenger side, you'll find it.
