because if it's the latter, we haven't seen road test of either one so saying one is better than the other at this point is premature at best.

if it's the former, what's so funny about the Ford GT?

all that said I'm glad the Halo cars seem to be making a comeback.
All performance aside (but I'll bet the Ford thoroughly trounces the Honda), the Ford looks like it was designed this year, the Acura looks like it already needs a refresh.

If you base your decision solely on performance, the answer is always and will always be Corvette Z06.

I get what you're saying, "Please not another LF-A."

basically need to to slot right at GT-R level

and taking in the fact that it will be made domestically, it might just be able to do that (no importation cost)

judging by those pictures, it's actually quite small

but we all know small=/=light so there's that.

Looks overstyled. Front end is gaudy (to say the least). Will age fast. Probably heavy. Aftermarket will be non-existant. This is more of a design study not really a sports car.

Yes the Ford GT is better: it's real, it's modern and Ford has made ironclad statements about their targeted performance. 600+ hp from a mid-engined TT V6, best production power to weight EVER, and a specific goal of winning races.

The NSX they are showing is a relic at this point, an LFA for Acura about 6 years too late and this showing did nothing to excite. David has already outlined the points that heavily weigh against the NSX for the performance minded, Honda tried to deliver on the hype, un-beige their brand and failed in the face of the competition imo.

You're absolutely right, time will tell if Honda is successful (and the Ford GT could be a flaming pile of garbage, the last one certainly had plenty of detractors and plenty of faults), I'm just saying 'too little too late'. We don't even know the powertrain configuration for christ sakes. Meanwhile that Ford GT will be in consumer driveways within 2 years.

If Honda/HPD throws me the keys to one at a track day I'll drive it, otherwise I won't go try to find one to drive.

If you base your decision solely on performance, the answer is always and will always be Corvette Z06.

i'm not talking about perfromance (well, not entirely) I'm talking about a car that can perform and not cause your spine to shatter.

for instance, I love Lamborghinis but I would never want to own one, because the ride when you're not driving fast or on a track is so rotten walking becomes an achievement afterwards.

back in 1991 people praised the NSX because it was Japan's first supercar, it was "affordable" and it was one that you could live with on a day to day basis.

So yeah the new NSX and the new Ford GT are both very nice, but if they're destroyers of the spine, then there's no point in owning one unless you're a millionaire and you have many alternatives

by road tests I mean what are they like at normal speeds? because 90% of the time you will be going at road speeds.

do you see where I'm coming from?

that angle makes the ford gt look bad because its very low. While the nsx has more classic-ish mid engine mclaren/r8 look. The gt40 has more ferrari enzo in it with angular lines.
I hope honda stepped up their game. The last nsx update was a joke. While the gtr and lfa brought some thunder and lazers.

That'll be like adding rhinestones to a fringed jacket. Fug on top of fug.
