Is it really a hybrid or is it more accurately called a gas-power plant, electric drive car?

We did some quick nerd math in the office here and assuming 40% power sent to the front and a 100V bus, they have to send 160 amps from the power plant to the front of the car.

Any squirrels nibbling on that are in for a surprise.

I haven't seen a weight published yet. Curious what it will be.

Look everybody, it's Japan's new 2007 Audi R8 fighter!

It's basically the Duke Nukem Forever of cars.

Pretty nice, looks even better than the multiple design concepts IMO.

Although everyone seems down on the new NSX due to the prolonged gestation period, I'm still interested how it will stack up against cars like the 458, GT-R, Z06, etc. Might be the first bargain-priced hybrid "supercar".

Very busy looking front end, but otherwise I like it a lot. The interior is very nice IMO.

I hope the legendary handling is still there.

I agree completely.

It looks like they stole the front grille off a CTS. "Busy" was a good word for it, and I think too much chrome for that type of car. Sick wheels though!

Hopefully it has decent numbers/competitive performance/price and is made to sell. Not one of those limited numbers cars that was made to show "what we can do" but priced out of range to the performance it actually puts out. Eventually the technology will trickle down to consumer cars... I hope.

Front wheels driven by electric motors, probably one each wheel. It can be actual battery packs for more(storage but at cost of weight), or more capacitors for more oomph(but less storage and less weight). Most likely capacitors for performance, and just enough battery to get good mpg on the nhtsa tests.

Good point about the testing aspect.

My personal definition of hybrid is that it has to be capable of powering the car completely via the battery packs. If the NSX can do that, I guess it qualifies. But it really should be capable of powering it for some reasonable distance. The i8 can only go about 30km on the battery, which is really kind of useless.

Including a battery (or capacitors) as part of a more efficient electric drivetrain solution doesn't necessarily qualify as hybrid in my mind.

I'd love to know your opinion after you actually drive one, however heavily biased you will be about it.

Or are you saying the Ford GT is better?

because if it's the latter, we haven't seen road test of either one so saying one is better than the other at this point is premature at best.

if it's the former, what's so funny about the Ford GT?

all that said I'm glad the Halo cars seem to be making a comeback.
