for sure!

my buddy's wife once totaled their Mazda 3 at an intersection, insurance gave them a brand new car (it was 3 years old at the time).

but then the premium went up so high that he can't afford to drive anymore, haha (there were a few other incidents too though)

KW area. Married, both 26, perfect driving record. State farm, currently 2 cars (03 maximas) and a house with them. I was quoted based on the price of the car only, not in the system yet. It is $6 more than my current insurance 2 way ($122), so about $128, but was told that as they gather statistics on the car, it may change.

Sounds pretty good .

Those are a bit discouraging to say the least - higher than a V6 Stang! And that $100 gap between the Subie and the FRS is likely to grow over time. Hmmm. May wind up changing my handle on this board lol.

Without location this is next to useless. Toronto can be 2X the cost of say Sarnia.

Well I just had a quote from my broker. Not from my insurer, as Wawanesa has no figures yet for FR-S/BRZ. Bad news: BRZ was $400 a year LESS than FR-S. If that degree of difference holds for Wawanesa (it will probably be a little less as the other company's rates were about 25% higher than what I expect to see from Wawanesa) I'll be going with the BRZ for sure as I think that gap is only going to get bigger over time.

I got my official quote... $2200 annual premium.

Full coverage, including 3rd party liability (I am leasing), and discounts for it being the second vehicle and having my home insurance with them.

I'm happy!

Got an estimate from Wawanesa - now there is no difference between the twin's rates.

Will the high insurance rates, high interest rates and firm MSRP pricing discourage anyone?

^ i'm trying to save up a Significant amount of money for a Down payment on a house...I don't want to be buying a car right now. So the Fact that the car isn't free is highly discouraging...

In all seriousness...insurance won't by any higher than anything else i've ever owned..could even be cheaper...this car will be the most fuel efficient car i've had (and it's not even great by any means), the interest rates, I had a STRONG assumption they'd mimic WRX/STI rates (and they do), and the CANADIAN MSRP was way Lower than I thought, so i'm not upset they're firm on it.

Overall par for the course

I think some of the high insurance rates here in Ontario might screw some people over. If $1500-2000 is a good price for someone with a relatively clean record, I can only imagine how much it's going to cost an under 25 year old male with a few tickets living in the GTA.

MSRP might be more negotiable once the car has been out for a year and most companies interest rates can change.
