Catch-can effects during break in
Hey guys.
So this is finally the year I bust through and drop dolla on a BRZ/FRS twin and I have a bunch of things lined up for it right off the dealership lot - FYI, I am in Toronto: 1- CQuartz Finest (via GTAInDetail) 2- Radium dual catch can set (via TougeTuning) The thing with the catch can is that I've never done it on a BRAND SPANKING NEW car. Given that it should protect the engine, was wondering if anyone here has actually done it on a brand new car? Any effects that I should know about? Thanks. Frost

hmmmm.......I hate to be a new year party pooper (about the catch can)...... but, unless you're gonna race that machine extensively, I'd suggest you find another way to itch the new car mod bug .....

I put the single Radium in when new. No bad effects, for me it doesn't catch much of anything under spirited DD usage, but doesn't hurt anything either. I put one in out of uncertainty on the mixed injection scheme (Port/Direct) and intake valve fouling horror stories coming from some DI only applications. So needed, maybe not, hurt anything, no.

If you're staying N/A you can just do the PCV side catch can. I have a Radium and it works really well, I do catch some stuff in there during autox and spirited drives.

Thanks for the responses guys.
@humfrz: The catch can is just for the protection. Not really a "mod-bug" fix. Just a preemptive strike for the car's future. @gundar and @JB86'd: Thanks for the feedback. I am planning to go for the single now after talking to a few people. The dual is overkill and pointless since I plan on staying NA for the first couple of years (at least). @limitedblkwrx: Thanks for the heads up but I would like to go with the Radium catch can simply because I don't want that stuff back recirculating back. Been reading a few reviews about the Crawford AOS and there have been some negatives whereas the Radium has been nothing but solid. Plus I want to also log wtf I can catch with the can. Heck for my first "mod", it will prolly be a set of RPF1s and some good sticky tires.

i just got the mishimoto catch can. radium didn't have clear instructions for where to mount. it seems people had created their own mount where they felt was best and could make it work.
