I have a monogram but if I given the choice, I actually like the BRZ or spec-d lights more. But seeing the demand/price of the monogram lights, I'll stick with mine just for the OEM/value.

Those aftermarket headlights are never sealed properly and almost always at some point develop condensation in them. Also the projectors in them aren't all that great either and usually aren't meant for HID bulbs. Sure you can throw a $50 eBay hid kit in there, but wait a year or so and watch how shitty your headlights end up looking from the excessive heat.

Ask me how I know? Been there done that and learned the hard way.

Be patient and save your money for the quality parts.
How about stock headlights with a cheap hid kit? Is there any cons to it?

The stock headlights have squirrel spotters and when you put HIDs in them, they are intensified and can blind on coming traffic. You can actually stick your finger in the stock headlight and bend down the tabs that reflect the light that create the squirrel spotters. But then you end up with a shitty cut off like this.

Other than that your only other problem would be the cheap HID kit itself. It might give you issues or it might last you a few years with no issues what so ever. Its a gamble really.

Nope. I'm in NY.

The retrofit source sells a direct fit kit.

Only scary part is baking the stock headlamps open, but other than that its pretty much a breeze.

If you don't feel comfortable enough doing it yourself I would ask in your local region about reputable retrofitting shops or people.

Biggest thing with doing the retro yourself is taking your time. Seriously. "Measure twice cut once" has a literal application for us on this one. As mentioned though, the Mini H1 in the RetroQuik kit are supposed to be really quite good let alone easy to install.

Personally I'm going to be retro-ing the H1s and a second set of projectors to give the high beams the boost they need. I'm focusing on max output since most of my driving is on highways between cities. Need to see those pesky deer.

Back from my old Honda forum (8thCivic), I know of a few guys on there that do their own business of retrofitting and do incredible work. I also know CustomLightz were reputable as well.
