I've driven manual since I was 16. I'm now 31, and never will I own an auto unless I'm physically unable to drive stick anymore. Though I've heard the auto in this car is pretty good. I save the slap stick pedals for my racing games on my PC.

I feel more connected with the car with a manual. It bothers me that most performance cars/sports cars. are not getting a proper gear box. I flipped my lid when Jaguar announced the F-Type will be getting a manual. Oh to be rich!

Yeah, ...but no.

For the record, to hell with what other's think/say. It's your car. Get the one you want.

In my opinion, the car is too small and pretty for a guy to get with an auto transmission. It's not unlike the Miata, I would love to own one, but it has to be manual, otherwise my friends would make jokes about me being sexually attracted to members of my own gender.

On the other hand, if I see a female driving an FRS/BRZ, it doesn't matter what transmission she's using, her attractiveness has gone up in my book. With that said, if it happens to be a manual, I'll just simply lose consciousness from lack of blood to the brain.

Jokes aside, manual transmissions are
1. Cheaper to buy and maintain
2. Much easier to work on (if you work on your own car)
3. More fun to drive. Blip-shifting, heel and toe, engine braking, clutch kick, and the ability to downshift without rev-match to scare the sh!t out of some tailgating b-hole (not recommended, but still fun to do)
4. An effective anti-theft device

I'm sure people have different pros and cons concerning manual vs automatic, all this is just my own opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

Nowadays most car thefts of attractive cars in my neck of the woods are by towing. No one wants to damage the car and no one questions tow trucks.

If a car thief is willing to go the distance and use a tow truck, you're pretty much fcked either way. Good point though, I didn't think of it.

The guys using towing to steal cars are not looking for the run of the mill and would be a small percentage of vehicles stolen.
The vast majority of cars that are stolen are crimes of opportunity not planned events.
The list of top ones really supports that:

Oddly enough, the AT in manual requires some non-dumbass driver interaction as well.

Just came up with a good thought (I think) in favor of the manual

The twins were made to be a driver's car, which means it does what you want it to do. Automatic transmissions take away a lot of the work, and lessen the gap between an everyday normal driver and a driver who knows what he/she's doing (sorry if it sounds condescending, I don't know how else to put it). Manual transmissions make you work for it, and I think this makes it more satisfying when you get it right.

Just like an auto in manual mode. How odd that both require the person behind the wheel to be involved. Strange that the mantransbaturs can't grasp (get it?) that part.

ETA: It's the MT-only clowns who look like tard's in these threads.

We have reached a verdict. Mods, close down this thread

Really though, if I were to choose a car to do long distance road trips, or to drive my kids around town, it'd most definitely be an auto (thank fck I don't have kids), otherwise, a manual transmission would be on top of my list when searching for a car.
