I'll still peg a Porsche at lower maintenance costs than a purpose built Toyobaru. If you're looking for friendly fun times and everybody nodding in a circle(jerk) agreeing spend your holidays in church and not on the internet!

I couldn't help noticing that nobody so far has made a point of saying how much better the Porsche drives/handles than a twin. They say the Cayman was the Toyobaru benchmark for handling - are we saying that with sufficient power/brake/tire mods you can build up a twin to be the equal of a 911 for about the same cost??

Tire cost means nothing without accounting for the longevity. I'm not saying that in the defense of the p car but it's something people don't account for.

Very true, a lot depends on alignment- the 997s (and a lot of bmws) have fairly aggressive rear alignment specs compared to the stock brz - that said the op probably isn't running stock alignment specs so tire life won't be terrific on either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you can afford the maintenance and other costs (ie insurance), 911 all day. There's someone at work who dailies one. He is my hero.

Please respond to this OP. I am very curious about how someone spends that much money on cosmetic mods. |

News: You are always going to lust after a different car. It doesn't stop.
I picked up the BRZ because I wanted to play with it. It was begging me to take it home and start monkeying with it. IT has a big sign on it that said "Break My Warranty". I have never taken a brand new car and just ravaged it. I wanted to pull our perfectly good parts and replace them with my own choices. Make it mine. I could have picked up a Porsche - but that is a canvas that is already painted. And has been seen buzzilions of times. I love my BRZ on many different levels. I can be next to a Porsche and people will look at the BRZ. Even the Porsche driver. It's different and fun and an economical base sports car. |

@Turbowned
Don't go below 2007 Really I'm gonna say the 2009 up stuff is worth the payments The 997 is a favorite chassis that may go up In Value if u keep a unmolested example in your driveway long enough they made changes to 991 that will see eventual upward pressure on 996 and 997 markets in years to come, IMHO.

Buying a twin to make it as fast as a Porsche is silly. Buying a twin to have a fun car to flog is smart. Buying a Porsche to flog is expensive. Buying a twin to make a custom car is expensive.
